Beautiful sunny day, but the chickens won't walk in the snow, so they go from the covered run along a little path I swept over to the deck and stand under the deck. I felt so bad for them standing in the dark I thought if I swept a path they would come out. Oh well, it's supposed to get up in the 40's again, so this will all be gone soon.

A few of my EE's that were moulting are finally laying again, but I'm still only getting 5 or 6 eggs a day. Well, except the 8 I got Saturday and then back down to 5 yesterday. Already have 5 today and I hear the egg songs out in the coop, so should be more coming today.

Funny e-mail I got and thought I'd give you all a chuckle.

Several days ago as I left a meeting at our church, I desperately gave myself a personal TSA pat down. I was looking for my keys. They were not in my pockets or purse. A quick search in the meeting room revealed nothing.

Suddenly I realized, I must have left them in the car. Frantically, I headed for the parking lot. My husband, David, has scolded me many times for leaving the keys in the ignition. My theory is the ignition is the best place not to lose them.

His theory is that the car will be stolen. As I burst through the doors of the church, I came to a terrifying conclusion. His theory was right. The parking lot was empty.

I immediately called the police. I gave them my location, confessed that I had left my keys in the car, and that it had been stolen. Then I made the most difficult call of all. "Honey," I stammered. I always call him honey in times like these. "I left my keys in the car, and it has been stolen. There was a period of silence. I thought the call had been dropped, but then I heard David's voice. "Betty," he barked, "I dropped you off!" Now it was my time to be silent. Embarrassed, I said, "Well, could you come and get me?"

David retorted, "I will, as soon as I convince this policeman I have not stolen your car!"

Now that is cute. I could see me doing something like that LOL

Hehe, I am working on socializing the chicks that I vent sexed as girls. I'd rather not get attached to the boys, for obvious reasons!

The ducklings are definitely a bit jumpy if I move too fast or they hear an odd noise. But they quickly settle down and go relax, and are alright with letting me gently pet them.
Such cute little ducklings. They are precious.

Mama Skeeter and 2 of her babies... the little black one scooter back underneath...

In fact, you can still see his littly fuzzy butt if you look strait up over the word butt...

And here is that cockerel I was talking about. He is PRETTY!

He is a faverolle mix. He has the 5 toes, but no feathering on the toes or legs. No muffs or beard. There is another cockerel that looks like him, but its comb is not as big yet, but that one has feathering on the toes. Also a pullet, thats the same, and one with muffs. That little pullet next to him is the cripple toed chick I showed ya'll when I brought them home from Avalon. They sure do like the outside. Right now they are walking up and down an 8ft 2x4. I still need to get the ladder part of it done, but they are doing just fine learning to walk up and down the board.
But here is another front pic of this little roo...

And some more random pictures of the chicks. The next one if Hawk. Jace named her that, he thinks she looks like a hawk. She's got the muffs.

This little guy, I think he has some interesting patterns showing up. He was solid black for a few weeks, and now this.

When I opened up, these 3 girls were the first to try and get out...

Was aiming for a pic of Hawk with her muffs. She's by far the most curious. I love that pattern on the cockerel behind her

So, that's it. I took more pics than this... But, obviously, I do not think I should put them all up. HEHEEHEE. I would take up a whole page on my own!

And Skeeter was not so aggressive today. Veena laid her first egg in week. It was small, but I expect that is normal after having been under the weather.

Stacy, do you know how to tell Runner/Campbell crosses... Well what gender they are? I was told that one was a boy, but Susie and Theo weren't really sure, just went by what some one else told them. They are going to be a 14 months old here soon... None of them have curly cues in there tails. And none of them are laying eggs yet.

ETA: Will go and get pics of them individually today.

Probably the peeps on the duck forum will know much better than I! This is my first experience with ducks, personally. I was shown how to vent sex the ducklings, and I did that as soon as they were dry after hatch, before their first meal. I think I did pretty well, since I know for certain that 5 are boys, and the others looked like girls. So I'll see as they age and become visually sexable whether I was right or not! I have the boys marked with blue bands around their legs.

To bad Monsanto has so much money invested in our gov't circles... The damage they are doing to the growing environment and the people who use their seeds and other products... Farmers in India have committed suicide after farming with their products. So sad.
