It is up to individual stores whether or not they choose to sell intermediated local produce. If your local grocer does not you can always seek out local produce yourself. The direct-sales agricultural sector in Michigan is alive and well.

That's what I always try to do.

I would love to attend those, but I will be in FLORIDA ha ha! But I will be setting eggs when I get back, joining MAHONRI'S EASTER HATCH along with farmerboy and hillbillyhen. Join us - you know you want to! (exerts jedi mind power on fellow Michigan thread folks). Setting St. Patricks day, March 17th.

Hi I live in the middle of Michigan "Gateway to the North" or so they say, actually I live near Harrison 1/2 off the road on a private trail. I don't have any chickens yet but will this spring. I can't wait, I always wanted some.

Opa you beat me to it!! we have a very similar set up used a pig feed pan with a 5gal, had problems with feed flow so we put a funnel or tall rounded pot inside and that helped keep the feed flowing. we usually use ours in the summer when we go away for the week,. did the same for water but DH put very small holes in the waterer, works great in the summer when they are drinking more water

my home-made feeder looks s imilar, only lots lots smaller, a regular lidded tractor supply bucket and it sets in an oil pan. they don't get it all over and it lasts about one week.
