I got a huge shock this morning! So as I groggily went outside to water the birds, bucket in hand, I saw several somethings the size of a chicken in the yard. My mind went OMG I never put them away last night! But then as I got a closer look, I was wrong, I had put them away. The yard was full of pheasants! A whole flock of them! They scattered as I went to the chicken coop, but it was still neat!
Be sure to click on the Chickenstock link in my signature line. It it the gateway to all the pertinent information about what has become a wonderful gathering of chicken affectionados.
SO CUTE! I wish my chicks were as friendly. I think it must have something to do with being broody hatched over incubator hatched... Their mamas tell them to RUN! Unless I come bearing peas and grapes...
I am lost! You used to be able to search through all the member names, I can't find where you can do that now. Has anyone seen it? I thought I had a line on some bantam Polish but can't find the member to check their profile to see if they are still active.
Here is my most friendly chick. She comes right to me when she sees me coming. RUNS! She's the one named Hawk... She sure liked being held, then decided it check out my glasses, see if she could get under my chins...
Ok, I guess I forgot the one where she looks like she's trying to take out me eye...She is a faverolle mix. I just wonder what one she is mixed with. She's one from Avalon.
Hello to the new posters! As you have seen, we do talk a lot, about all kinds of stuff, so don't be afraid to just throw something out there!
RaZ "The salmon is engineered to produce growth hormones year-round that cause the fish to grow at twice the normal rate."
I really wish i could find the guy who is approving this crap. What in the heck is wrong with regular, plain old food??? At first i thought cloned and engineered food was too expensive and weird, and no one would want it, so it would fizzle out on it's own accord. Apparently i was wrong. And why must we even ask to have a label? That should be a no-brainer. Well, gives my guy a new excuse to go fishing! Thanks for the head's up.
1muttsfan Aaaaaaagh!!!!!!! I do want babies, i do! But none of my girls will brood. Sniff. I have one that likes to lay on them for quite a while after she lays one; is that a sign that she may soon? (She saw me taking an egg yesterday and let out a huge tattle-tail honk. I put her and the egg in the box, as she hadn't layed yet, and she positively loved on that egg.) Crossing fingers...............
Another question: Has anyone noticed a correlation between early tail feathers and sex? I have two chicks that already have tail feathers, the other three have nothing. I'm hoping it's not a roo thing.
