Hee, hee! Yesterday the goosers were able to get into their wading pool and splash around a little. I looked at them and thought, they look a little bit too high in there, and kinda unsteady. When I got closer, they were slipping and sliding on a thick slab of ice but their weight had sunk the slab low enough so a little water seeped over it and they could splash and bathe themselves, but the slab kept shifting under their movements. Pretty funny to watch. But they seemed very happy to have some water in liquid form in the pool again.

I just figured out how to post to a comment without it being added all they way at the end, yeah for me. Anyways It looks like this is going to be a lot of fun I am up to it. I got to tell you all here my family thinks I have gone mad but whatever I have always wanted chickens and darn it I am getting them this year only thing is I can't wait for spring.

it is at the end in a separate building on the south side of the st. I think the sign by the drive said Mullers? They only have a small sign on the building. I think the address is 4700 14mile

Is that at TSC? I try to stay away when that happens so I don't come home with any stowaways It is not good to work at the PO cause Farm & Home orders out of our branch and they get order after order of those cute little critters and they cheep and distract me all morning.

I still like your avatar, you must have been about 2or3

Love the pic. they are such a pretty color.

love your goat, do you have to brush them like cats or dogs with such long hair so they don't get matted?

just like that it happens. You know Kimmie you really need at least 3or4 different colors of egg layers that way you can decide which ones you like best. And you can never decide which ones you like best. some one will post a pic of another breed and your want some of those too

I like the owls too. I would love to see an owl here in the burbs.
They were everywhere when I was a kid, back on the farm.

Everyone's posts are added to the end. That's how message boards work. The posts are in chronological order.

You don't have to wait until spring, Kimmie. You can do what I did last year. Get some day old chicks from TSC or wherever and raise them in the house.

I bought a 100 gallon water trough to be my brooder and had them in the living room.
I think I'll do that again this year but it will strictly be Mallards. And hopefully a couple of BCMs and JGs form Chickenstock.

Four Araucana chicks have hatched! One has tiny chin tufts that I almost missed with the other chick fluff (but there are penduncles, which means tufts!). They are so precious! I will share pics soon, since my camera is charging! The remaining two eggs have pipped, so hopefully hey do well. These chickens will be new blood for my flock, since they came from a breeder I have not purchased from. The eggs were the bluest of blue, no contamination and green eggs. So I am very excited for these birds!

I have to wait for spring because I am going to AZ till sometime in April. Darn these vacations!

Saw your post about ACD's. I'm posting a pic of mine over on the other thread soon. She's a "real" one born from the Blue BC and Dingo. Anyway, April 8th is Easter and a good time to get some chickies at TSC or Family Farm & Home. They seem to do ok for most folks. Be careful of the straight run though - all mine ended up being roos! Best pay the extra centavos and get sexed birds.

Glad you mentioned that about the straights at TSC, because I was plannig on picking up a few more chicks to get some more layers and some fryers, sure didn't want them to be all fryers.
