Well, the storm fizzled up here just south of Alpena. Only got barely 3 inches, and no ice to speak of, looks like the storm warning is cancelled. DH called from Spruce, 17 miles south of Alpena, he says he's got 5 inches at the barn and a little ice so I'm guessing it may have been a little worse the clower you get to Alpena. I'm sure not complaining.

Lucky you...amazing what a few miles can do. We have at least 7 inches now and light flurries. Such a heavy snow also...great if you want to build a snowman or fort.

Daron - I have been giving this MG issue a lot of thought.

Since you are running a business you have to consider the cost of all the medicines you must buy. Also, please check with Michigan State University Veterinarians for information on if this is curable and if the eggs/chicks will be suitable to sell to other people.

As much as I personally like you, I would be afraid to buy chicks that I knew hatched from the eggs of infected/carrier chickens. Even if they had been washed in antibiotic. I know it may work fine, but I would not take that risk and so as a business you may want to check with Veterinarians to see if this is a good business plan.

Are you going to MSU next Tuesday?
I will be there by lunch time and hope to see you and Snowflake and perhaps others.

I am very saddened by the amount of disease in our farm animals in Michigan.

Oh dear Gods, I just finished getting rid of what I think is round one from this snow storm. Kind of an eye of the storm thing going, not much snow, lots of ice pellets though. Ten inches of thick, wet, heavy snow even with a snowblower is slow and difficult going. Got what I could with the snowblower (I could only clear thin lines of snow while having to push it and muscle the nose down in the snow, oye), then shoveled the rest. Short dog isn't happy having snow so deep, even tall dog is like ***, since we've had such a uneventful winter. So winter is finally here...and tomorrow is the first day of March?

Hang in there Stacykins, at least you know it isn't going to last long

The storm died out here too. Everything is wet & sloppy so it will an in pen day for my little flock.....they prefer it green, dry & sunny!
Question: What is Tylan?

The feathers belonged to Frenchie so I'm at the belief that he is gone.

eta- there was a fox that inhabited the ruins last year that we know of so that is one possibility. We have also seen a big fat opossum recently.
Hope this isn't the case!

Morn

morning glories ! Plant seeds for a variety of colors about two feet apart and they will shade the wall and provide a beautiful area. This what happens when allowed to mself seed for a couple of years. I like em.
I bet this looks beautiful in bloom......if you have pic.....please post it....I love morning glories!

eta: I meant in full bloom!

Gotta say I was a Monkey fan in middle school. I remember my music teacher hated them but that did not sway me in the least. RIP Davy! Music in all forms is a good thing - this Saturady I'll be at a Dom Williams concert at LRC! Yeah!

One plant to consider for shade for your runs would be trumpet vines. I planted some and for 2 years they didn't do much however once they took off the amount of growth in a summer is unbelievable.

Tylan is a broad spectrum antibiotic. I use it on the sheep if one gets pneumonia. It treats a lot of things. Some people put it in their birds waterers for respiratory issues and I have Tylan 10 added to my chicken feed as a sort of preventative.
