My Sandhill chicks arrived this morning. They didn't have any rosecomb colored Dorkings, so he threw in some extras. Check out this chicken math - ordered 25 chicks (RC dorkings and Jaerhons). Paperwork says 19 jaerhons, 10 delawares, 4 red dorkings and 4 black orps. Count of chicks in box - 47

. Now I am not a math whiz but that just doesn't add up, does it? The remaining chicks are a mystery.

I have a friend that is looking for Black Jersey Giant chicks or hatching eggs. PM me if you have or know of any. They are also in the West michigan area.

Good Morning! So warm outside already!

Well, it looks like everyone who guessed that the picture of the large green eggs are Emus, is right! Yep, they are emu eggs. :D I just hope that I will be able to hatch one or two. I had googled to see if they can get MG before bidding the eggs, AND NOPE THEY DON'T! :woot

I forgot to ask............... I set turkey eggs in the bator day before yesterday, got another egg the next day. I went ahead and stuck it in the bator...will it be ok?

That shouldn't be a problem. It just might hatch a day later.

You know Opa, it hasn't even been a week since we put the clocks forward so really, your body thinks it's 3:30 am. I don't think your internal clock is up to snuff today.

I wish my internal clock was the only thing about this old body that isn't up to snuff.

So, is expecting a frizzle to raise a dozen babies too much?
I think it will be fine. I had a bantam raise 10 chicks last year, some standard, some bantam. I gave her and my frizzle 6 chicks each since they were both broody the same time. My frizzle is a strange bird though. Named her Spaz, and well the name is VERY fitting. She decided she only liked 2 if the chicks so the rest ended up with the other hen who welcomed any of them ( including the 2 double mothered chicks occasionally).

I'm also hoping your surgery & recovery goes well. Best of luck and health to you.

OK so since NovaAman started it I will try to help out. These are all hand made by me and a friend (his design). They come in yellow, redish, blueish purple, orange, green, pink, and rust color. They are up to about 6" tall. They are $5.00 each or $100. for 25 ($4.00 each) PLUS shipping.
Also unlike the big hatcheries we allow mixed breed (color) orders.
Nova IF it would work for everybody maybe you could take a count and place the order.

Also please note my web site in my sig line.

Today I heard the siren song of TSC ducklings...and bought all of their 'older' ducks. You see, they just got in a new shipment of day old ducklings, but had four leftover week and a half old ducklings. But they had no separate bins for the bigguns. So I bought them! I know that A: they are robust and survived the first week post shipping and B: one less week I have to feed them, haha!

So now I have four new pekins in the brooder. And the guy who boxed them up for me offered me his adult ducklings, though I kindly refused since I am a bit cautious of disease transmission. I don't really have a place to quarantine adult fowl.
