It was really nice day here in Michigan. (80s)
Started some yard work, Like taking the swimming pool and restoring the yard.
Of course the flock had to come and investigate. worms for every one!
I'm hoping to reuse the side walls of the swimming pool as roofing material
for some chicken tractors I plan on building and then selling.
Stopped by the Family farm store for some turkeys, but no luck.
Slim pickens on any chickens, this week.
TSC in Jackson (east store) had BB Bronze turkeys in yesterday!

Forgot,,,Welcome Jack and any other newbies I may have missed

,,, heard the sprig peepers this AM when I went out to open the poop door and lower the food, also have been hearing the woodcock's for a couple of weeks, I love tho hear them. took me several yrs after we moved up here to figure out what they were. I would ask everyone that came up the the house listen .......what do you think that is?? most were sure it was some kind of frog. I knew that wasn't it cause usually It was to cold yet for frogs to be out..... Have yet to see one as they only call in the early morning, and dusk, during the spring So if you hear an unusual squeak. listen, they fly straight up in the air then flutter down and you can hear a chirp of sorts shortly after the squeak.

Frogs are definatly out! Tree frogs and yesterday I saw a pond frog..... matter of fact..... They were out in full force yesterday in my pond!

FFH on Plainfield in GR got a big batch of chicks in yesterday..... I could hear them peeping all morning till there carrier left the office. went over & checked, BR. Orps, Banties, couldn't see the other labels as they were stacked up on top of each other. about 5 or 6 big boxes

I forgot to ask............... I set turkey eggs in the bator day before yesterday, got another egg the next day. I went ahead and stuck it in the bator...will it be ok?

Worked on mulching my little flower bed again, and pulling most of the leaves out of the camper.

Getting hot and stinky in there, so back to mopping for me. So can't wait for DH to get back so we can start on the run so i can try to throw some grass/wild flower seed down for the yard in front of the camper coop.
Heat caught me too soon. Think it's too late to try another rose cutting? I am thinking about boiling a little willow branch and using the water to root. i read that willows have natural rooting hormones? Does this sound right to anyone?

I don't think it is ever to late to do rose cuttings, I have had success spring and fall , as long as it isn't to hot. put them in the shade with a jar over and they do well. I have read the willow does well haven't tried it my self.

You also have to be careful with the roots. I got it planting a tree in an area where I knew ivy plants were, but the roots had spread out all over.... was a particularly unpleasant exposure. I've gotten it in my eyes and throat before..have to have major steroid shots... darn stuff will leave scars on you too!
All this ivy talk is making me itch!!

Anyone notice the mosquito's were out in full force yesterday! Buggers!
I wondered what was flying around my head ,last night, I think I was in denial

Morning All,
Hope the day stays decent. I'd like to get out in my landscaping for a bit. I put the heated waterer away in the shed......Yayyyy.....no more messy gross water. It served it's purpose but those chickens really made a mess of it everyday pecking, kicking, & dust bathing in the pen. Put the waterers with the nipples out. This weather is too good to be true and I have a feeling mother nature will still give us one more cold blast. It might not be a big one but big enough to make us all frown for a day or two.

Here's the link to the spring fowl fest! I went last year (which was the 1st yr they put it on) and had a wonderful time! It's amazing to see all the different birds and meet all the wonderful people.

I was wondering when this was gonna be. We went last year and really enjoyed it! Will definitely put it on the calendar.

So fuzzy-cute.

Another walk planned with the dogs. Actually slept in cuz we had the windows open and fresh air just makes sleeping so much nicer.

You know Opa, it hasn't even been a week since we put the clocks forward so really, your body thinks it's 3:30 am. I don't think your internal clock is up to snuff today.

then glanced again at my watch. 430am! That's an hour too early. Oh well, the coffee is finished so I might as well start my day.
