Well, I'm home from Florida. Mom, hope your surgery went well and you are recouperating OK. It's good to be home.
Welcome back- missed you. Surgery went well...recovery did not. Pure hell first 36 hours..dont recommend surgery until you know a pain med you can take besides Motrin. Friday, I coughed and tore something and within four hours my abdomen began to turn black with a bruise..well, now my entire abdomen from sternum to pubic bone hip to hio is black. pure black. Been going to my regular dr to monitor my blood level- it is not still bleeding so I will be okay. Cant find anything I can eat though. Been miserable.

Well OK. As long as I don't have to come downe there

welll if thats all I have to do to get you to come visit.......

agree....Mom you need nourishment or your recovery will take longer, maybe nibble small portions of protein, fruit and veggies all day instead of an actual meal

tried a yogurt at 200..when normal people are asleep...instant NO. darn,

I've never done a fecal on a bird, but if they're anything like mammals, it's very easy. You need a scope w/at least 10x and 40x I'd say. That seems pretty expensive!
I do them at work. Same as birds, pretty much..but along with the scope, you need Fecasol solution, and a coverslip.. and coccidia can be very hard to identify.

Its supposed to rain off and on most the day. Yay! Today is a gravy day. The bottoms of my feet are swollen. I hate when that happens. Makes walking painful. Almost feels like they are water logged, which I guess they are. But I think its more likely they are tired and I really need to sit back and do nada for a day or so.

I got home from work, managed to skip between the rain drops, so not soaked. My boys have both taken over my bed again. Lol. Little weirdos. Guess I will go crash on theirs.

It looks like the weather is going to be a little damp for awhile. With the heat and now the rain the probability of having to mow my lawn in March is increasing.

With today's forecast I think staying near the coffee pot might be prudent.

OH yea, and by the way, I'm gonna put straw out in my coop when I'm finished with it...can someone tell me where I can buy a bale or 2 of straw in the Lansing area? I've seen a couple ads on craigs list but they seem kinda far away..

Is there a Tracotr Supply, or Family Farm and Home around there. Must be. They usually have it.

Sorry, that's the quick answer. Google hay and straw farms in Lansing Local farms usually advertise, and sell, straw, hay, and field grasses at a more reasonable price, however, best to check their stock and make sure it's been stored correctly. I've seen some pretty bad product rotated in front of last years. TSC and FFH usually have some nice stuff.

That's not a probably Sam, my grass is already up a few inches from where it was last week. I told my wife I have to clip the field next week already and that's usually a memorial day thing.

my honeysuckle is completely leafed out, and my roses are getting leaves, my lilacs all have leaves.
Way too much to possibly cover.
I am worried about them.

ETA-
Raz, you should plant trumpet vine and honeysuckle all along the crabby lady side of your yard. First year, my trumpet didnt do much of anything,,,but second year, and now third and fourth year...I am completely covered on one side of my yard. LOVE the trumpet vine. It even goes WAYYYYYYYYYY up my tree, lol.

I would treat now for the lice also, by the time the eggs hatch hopefully they will be gone..Although I would spray first with something strong take the hen outside. I read last year in a chick mag. stuff white pine needles in a mason jar and fill with alcohol let sit for 3or4 weeks in the sun also spread fever few or sweet annie in the coop the bugs don'e like the smell & go els-ware
don't know how well the plants work plan to try them this year if I can get my sweet annie to grow, I used the pine spray didn't have a problem to begin with so I am not sure if it kept them away or I was just lucky

Mom sorry you are still having problems, I think my daughter had to do a very bland diet for some time, it has been many yrs. since she had her surgery though

that is as bad as the pullorum testing, the solution you need cost $120 or more,,,darn it,,,,,,

funny I was looking at my lawn before it started to rain last night and thought I better take the netting down so my grand son can get it cut,, looking pretty shabby in the front.

TSC straw and hay are very pricy I get a much better price from the local farmer..... I bought a bale of alfalfa this yr. from TSC very dusty, put it out in the run a little at a time hens didn't go nuts over it but it would be gone by eve.

Have a good day all.....sorry about the rain, my weekend off,,,get 1 every 6 weeks, wouldn't ya know, but may get some yard work done in between and the cooler temps is welcome
