Nice paintings Total... losing your site and dexterity is very frustrating as an artist! I had to break down and get a magnifier/light to do my drawings.

I've wondered about eggs covered in yolk being able to hatch too... anyone got experience with that?

Our new, old, neighbor asked if he could have some of our old fencing we had on the junk pile... so we took it to him. He's wanting to get some chickens soon. I offered to give him a rooster and hen to get him started, cause he doesn't have much money. It's nice that he's a bit of a neat freak, after the neighbors that lived there before him were just the opposite. He's funny to talk to because he's very abrupt and doesn't stay on a topic very long.

Well, just as I figured... my BBW hen went broody, sat on the eggs........ and proceeded to crush them all! LOL! At least the royals are laying in a separate nest and there's still hope they'll go broody.

Olive, I wiped off the eggs and we'll see what happens. ((Sigh)) I need to put a bell on that kid.

I always figure it's worth putting them in for 5 days until I can candle them to see if they're developing. I'm candling my shipped eggs tonight...I peeked yesterday at a couple and could see development.

Morning everyone. TGIF right?? Too bad its so dang cold out. I wanted to sleep in...I was having one of those really really good dreams that I wanted to keep going, but then my alarm went off. Jerk. So here I am at work, but hopefully the day goes quick. And I hope the rain holds out here today!

Where are you at? RIRjen has chicks. I found a dozen hatching eggs that I will pick up tomorrow to put in the incubator on Wednesday. I only want to keep one...I'd be happy to share with you. Or if you want to "cook" your own I can get you the gals name that has the eggs. She has another dozen sitting there.

I'm in Greenville. RIRjen is somewhat close, but DH would require another reason for the hour drive. Perhaps if I can convince him to let me go to chickenstock getting one from her might work. As for your eggs, it would depend how far you are from me. I would love to 'cook' my own, but that would require me to have something to do so with other than a frying pan.

I'm getting a bit of a slow start today and right now I should start getting ready, but I am just taking a few moments before I do. DH and I have a 2 hour drive ahead of us to a little town called Hartford. Hopefully, we don't get lost, but I have taken the forethought to mapquest the route and we should be alright. Since we'll be gone til who knows when, the chickens will most likely stay inside today which is okay because it is brr cold outside. Hope you all have a pleasant day.

Good morning

I haen't been on much lately, been having a hard time lifewise (see Family thread) but I thought I'd pop in for a quick hello.

Hello! I will put you on my prayer list! I keep a list of people to pray for (Mom2's healing, Nova's headache, Hope's stepdad's neighbors, RaZ's leg and back) and I will add you to the list!

Now here is the funny part! I never believed in prayer and I am a real 'do it yourselfer'.......so in every hard time I would do all that I could to 'fix' things. That's exhausting. And then I came up against things I couldn't fix anymore (my mom's dementia, my husband's brain cancer, my dad's leukemia) and so I prayed. And guess what? Really nice stuff happened. And I realized that prayer works, not to make things go our way, but somehow it has an effect.

And how easy is it when you are driving or in the bath tub or falling asleep to let your mind drift over all the needs of others and wish them many blessings? It's easy! So michickenwrangler, you are on my list!

Sarah, Angela B shared the idea of putting cardboard under her roosts and then just tossing those disposable poop boards. I actually used some newspaper. So each day I would take the newspaper and throw it out with all the poop on it. Just another idea.

Well, I'm off to the Food Pantry where I volunteer on Fridays. It's cold and blustery out there today. Yesterday was a 3 Dog Day, meaning I had three dogs appear at the back door COVERED in mud, so they all got a bath and blow out. See everyone later tonight. Take care.

Positive thinking is supposed to work. With that in mind I need everyone to think positive about my winning the lottery tonight. The only reason I am asking is so that I can buy everyone a new chicken and Laura a new coop.

As long as we're putting in orders, I could really use a new barn.

I have an inversion table but I don't want to use just in case I get stuck in it.

RaZ - Do you know any good chiropractors who do deep muscle massage? Or maybe you could get one of those co-eds you are always talking about to come over and rub down your back with some sports cream

Should definitely help with the pain...or at least take your mind off of it.
