They said on the news yesterday that your odds of being killed by flesh eating bacteria is greater than your odds of winning that jackpot. I never have understood gambling; if I drop money I want something guaranteed to show for it. That said, DH and a few of his buddies went together and bought a few tickets in a "pool". It's the first time since I've known him that he's bought a lotto ticket so I guess I'll let him have his fun; haven't told him about the flesh eating bacteria. LOL!

I was reading the paper and looked out the window to see it snowing like crazy.

Then I took off my readers and saw that it was cherry blossoms blowing by. Whew!

It has started to rain, it's gloomy and cold but at least I'm looking at the flowers and not the roots.

Funny thing about flying the flag, I'm the only one who does so on the entire block.

A floor trader once told me never to gamble unless you could take that gambling money and throw it in the street. In other words, if you can waste it, you can gamble with it.

No coeds offered to rub my back but one did offer to kick me. I guess that's a start.

TC - You have an incredible gift! These paintings are beautiful. I especially love the top one and would hang either one over the couch in my formal living room. Absolutely beautiful. The water in the top one looks like I could dip my finger in it. I really, really love the top picture. Really. Do you sell them or show them somewhere? I hope you show them, they are too beautiful not to! Did I mention I really love the top one?

Thank you - I don't show and it's been a while since I sold any, due to the bad economy the last few years. The last thing people spend their hard earned money on is art. Totally understandable.

I still keep painting, and hope that one day, the economy will get better and people will want nice art for their homes - dreaming! When I have finished a few more (I work on several at a time) I shall put them up on my website along with my pottery (I didn't mention that).

Hand thrown and carved, porcelain luminaries

At the risk of being too philosophical (and I'm certainly not defending the behavior and agree with your "folding it in half" comment) I sometimes wonder if the lottery or gambling is the only source of hope in some people's lives. And "all" they have to risk to get it is a few dollars. But, admittedly, that mindset is a bit like chasing your tail.
Sadly the Lotto is my retirement fund, if I win. Sadly my last wife got more than half of my IRA in the divorce and that was after she drained the bank account and ran up credit cards that I didn't even know we had.
So I am taking all of my liquid assets and buying tickets today. I'll be getting 2.

Monet probably also had Macular Degeneration, and developed a whole new school of painting.
I remember reading that Van Gogh had some condition that affected his vision and that was why he painted like he did. I don't remember my art history all that well.

I hope you didn't take offense! I mean those that sink in hundreds of dollars!

And good luck!

(was that half of your IRA before or after the market took half?)

I'm just going to shut up.

I could use a new car... The jeep works... But its rusting through and uses the gas....
I just got mine back from the shop yesterday. One of those totally unexpected (well, I knew something was going wrong but till it really went, I didn't know what it was) pricey fixes. But now it runs really well which it hasn't in a long time. Hopefully it will last me another 5 years, was hoping for 2 but to get my money's worth I think 5 would be better. I really like the car, it's a 99 Taurus. Fits me well.

Love those luminaries! I loved pottery class in high school but of course, without buying all the stuff which at this point in my life is probably not going to happen, I have no way to make anything.

Loved your paintings, too. My aunt had macular degeneration so I am even more amazed at your work! wonderful. I should get my paints back out and pretend I can do that, too.

Just waiting on the weather now, radar shows it over head but nothing is happening yet, they say 100% snow.

I wasn't offended. I was being kind of snarky. I do only have 2 bucks in cash on me and I will use that to buy a ticket just for funs and grins.

Ironically, I offered the ex a cash buy-out to leave me alone but she wanted the retirement money. So her lawyer got her about 60% of the fund. But instead of keeping it as an IRA, she cashed it out. She paid early withdrawl fees, penalties, capital gains and taxes. And that was after the market crashed and the original value was about half the face value. She ended up with a few thousand less than what she owed her lawyer.

Good Afternoon! Busy morning getting all the feeders and waterers filled. Let the chickens out for a bit and then it started to rain, and then snow, and then ice and now rain. And thunder! Chased all the chickens back into their coop instead of of hanging out in the garage.
Going to Chicago tomorrow with my kids and grandkids and visiting my son there. He has lots of plans for us, so goning to bring my comfortable shoes! Weather is suppose to be nice the next three days, so that's a relief. Gonna have fun riding the EL train thru downtown.
Prayers being said for those in need.
