Quote: That's why I was looking for 9 other people to share the cost and the vaccine with! $60 a piece is much cheaper then $600.

Even if you have 42 chicks (a small bator full) you are vaccinating, at $3 each to replace those chicks you are still saving yourself time and money with the vaccine. I am not worried about how much vaccine I will be wasting or not using once I mix it because it's still cheaper to use it on 3 dozen chicks at $8 a piece (what I am paying) then culling and replacing those chicks. I guess its all in how you view it.

I think I posted that they have to be quarantined for three weeks afterward. I plan to keep mine in the garage while I wait the three weeks. They also have to be at least six weeks old to use the vaccine.

You didn't miss anything RIRJen. You can sell, free range and show your birds, it just exposes them to Mycoplasm or MG. I am looking for anyone who wants to split this order with me because last week I lost my whole flock to it. I spent around $140 to a vet only to be told I can not sell, show or free range my birds because they have this very common disease or I can kill my whole flock and start over. I don't know how I got the disease, but since it can be spread by wild birds, other birds who don't show signs of having it at shows or on farms, it can be spread by a flock owners clothing, shoes and such. I know of four backyard farms in Michigan (none located near each other) who have culled their entire flock because of it.

Like I said, I'm just trying to find enough people interested in protecting their investment.
I think that is a great deal, esp that I had to cull all of my flock twice, and had the vet come to my place twice. I have spent more than $600.00 to fight this disease and rebuilding my farm TWICE! So, its much cheaper in a long run. P.Ming you!
I have starts from that tree that are growing nicely. I'll have a bunch at Chickenstock.
What kind of tree is that? I might be interested, and will name it RaZ's Neighbor's double nightmare! :gig
Good luck with them, Daron. Can't wait to see hatchling pics if they do well. Boy, I'll bet those buggers eat a ton! Will you raise them to sell for meat?
Thanks! I do hope that they will hatch! They eat the same amount as turkeys eat. A pound of feed a day, and they graze like sheep. If I mange to hatch some, I will keep them! If [God willing] I hatch a pair, I want to breed them. But they will take about 2 to 3 years to breeding age. Update on my hatch- I have lost count after 20 chicks, and there are still MORE hatching! :woot Tomorrow afternoon the heifer will be delivered!!!! :ya Can't wait!!!!

Could you talk to the husband when he is home? I am thinking it is worth a try. Ask him to get her off your case? Cause if you just mention one thing like the trash or chickens and he talks to her about those, she will switch to something else to keep bugging you. But if you point out the bigger issue, like she is really focusing on you and your yard and looking over the fence and asking about your new Uggos and calling you names and she is in your space (trash) and can he get her to take her focus off you, then that might work. He knows she has a problem, just ask him if he can get her to take her focus somewhere else and off you.

I think Raz edited while you were posting. You totally seem to know what you're talking about but from a lay person's point of view I have to say that I've met people like this and they tend to not actually marry authority figures but people they can control and walk over. Even if the husband pays the bills etc, she's likely still in charge if it's anything like what I've seen.
I did edit... her husband does exactly whatever she tells him to do. He works, she gets the paycheck and he gets an allowance. He and I had a conversation one night when he was drinking and I got an earful.

That is JUST gross.

Yep, that's been my experience of the spouses of those types.

On an unrelated note - anyone know how to get the stench of rotting deer anus off the head of a dog? Regular washing doesn't seem to be actually cutting it. Then again maybe it's just that whenever she sticks her head close to my face I imagine it buried.... um I think I'm just going to stop there.

Yes, you could be right. But that would be the first thing I would try. O.K. I can tell you that sometimes the spouse can reach his wife or the wfe her husband. Seriously, this has worked. Maybe call him in G.R.
So RaZ, I would try this first and then maybe be thinking of other ways to legally confront her on her behavior or name husband and wife in the complaint. That way you put pressure on him to put pressure on her. And keep it genreral, like 'this lady is in my business, she is hyper focused on everything I do, I have no privacy, she calls the authorities on me, she harrasses me (trash), she calls me names.' We'll have to pray for you because this is a tough situation.

I wonder if rubbing a bit of PDZ would help neutralize the odor.
Or maybe rubbing an orange peel behind the dog's ear.???

They are called "golden willow", but that was just the variety named on the tag.
They grow quickly, those trees were 4 feet tall when I planted them in 2006/07.
The trunk was about 1 1/2 inches then, I'd have to measure to see the diameter now.
