Ferrret did a good job of answering.

We have chickenpox on registered.

Oh, sweet, I was looking for some.

Matter of fact, a good dressage saddle (like they use in the Lipizzaner school) is very deep, has a pommel like front and you sit much like you would on a western saddle. I go both ways!

Of course, I'm partial to a McClellan for comfort, especially since I couldn't ever afford a really good, deep dressage saddle. And those silly English saddles, well, they are lightweight and have a purpose too. Being a Brit, I grew up with them - but then I don't mind just using a saddle pad and bosal. All the horses I raised and trained had to do English and Western.

But I drew the line at jousting, polo too for that matter, it's too much like golf on horseback!

Thanks for the welcome!

RBahmer, we aren't looking for anything in particular other than I know my oldest wants a polish. She used to have one, but it died this past winter and she has been heart broken ever since. Basically anything, but probably in the bantam breeds since they are easier to handle for showmanship. Some that I know they would be interested in are serama, silkie and cochins.

Mom2emall has some adorable bantams! I'll send her a message now to contact you!

Be prepared for what? Did they give you a hard time? Most of the men I've been around are pleased to see a woman leaning how to shoot. (besides, a proven fact woman can shoot better than men with our lower center of gravity).

They were all very nice in my CCP class, however I tended to be the example in a lot of situations because I am small. It didn't bother me, but being the only woman tends to put a spotlight on you and some people are put off by that.

Mamabear - Sorry can't help you out. I have Silkies but none to get rid of.
HH - yes I do still have the Icelandics. Wouldn't part with them. What is in my signature is what I have now. I am going to Muskegon on Friday and buying some more d'Anvers, Spithaubens , and Russian Orloffs from Randy. On my way up I am stopping at Jerry's and getting a few blue and blue splash Marans.
I want to know more! I have Orloffs in the incubator right now and have been trying to find some Spangled for two years!

I've been cleaning all morning. I thought of a question I had and come to post it. While reading all the new posts I forgot what I was going to ask. I guess I'll be back later.

I'm always impressed by anyone who can sit a saddle well. English or Western, I don't care.
A good horse man or horse woman who rides well has a connection with their mount and they act as one.

I had a dear girl friend who rode competitive reining horse and she was very good. The spins and slides are something else to watch.

I don't know if you've seen this, probably have, this lady is fabulous! Bareback and nor reins either

Nice work Juise, love the detail.

The only chick that made it out of the shipped eggs...and I can't even keep it.

It's a silkie...supposed to have black skin...so what does it have...white skin on the tips of it's toes.

grrrrr..... it's a shame too because it's a super nice looking splash.

Well right now they are potential silkies. Buff, partridge, blue/black/splash, and a few other colors. I know better then to count my chicks before they are hatched, but so far I have good development at 10+ days. D'uccle eggs are porcelein and mille.

I don't think it will change...white doesn't normally change to black. Bunch of $ down the drain :( guess I've learned my lesson on buying eggs from someone else. ((Sigh))

Okay, our coop is ALMOST DONE! Just a couple finishing touches and whalaa! Well, it needs siding put back on and paint but that's not required for chickens to live in it. We've been burning that midnight oil for sure! I take the girls outside everyday(unless it's seriously nasty) and let them semi-free range it. Those silly chicks all wander in a tight group. lol

Guns: Part of my plan this year is to take a class and get my ccw. I have a couple friends who are police officers and the wife says she'll hook me up with some shooting range time. Oh YEAH!

MamaBear!

I'm sorry for the sick kiddos. I hope they get better soon. Having sick little ones(and big ones...my 12 year old turns into a baby haha) is never any fun.

Rbahmer - I'm sorry about your hen. :(

Silly - YAY on the brooder box!

A cute pic from this weekend....Waffles is never going to lay an egg....she's just going to try and brood all the others I think. At least she's sweet. haha Can you see the baby d'uccles? She also has the RIR under there too. Sigh...
