Tats are very common. Is it on the left ear ( it should be). Usually they are made at weaning. Sometimes the number only means a birth date, or which litter it came from. There is no universal system for tats. Good luck finding an owner though. Only implanted chips really have any chance. These are used for tracking purposes in rabbits, as well as other animals. My wife should chip me, ha ha! Next litter you are getting a Flemish. I'm holding one of the girls from this batch "just in case" I make it to this Chickstock thing. Craigslist the LOP unless you fall in love with him/her, lol! We'll be talking. I'll PM you if anything comes up - you do the same! John
ooh I wonder if I should take her to work with me and scan her for a chip. Never thought of that. Do people usually chip them? For show purposes? Thats actually a wonderful idea considering how they like to escape. out of the yard. I wanted to chip my tortoise- those are done by epoxying it under the rim of the shell, but then I figured nobody around here would ever take him in to be scanned if they found him.,
What happpens if you withold one of the girls from this litter and you DONT make it to Chickenstock? I really hope you and your wife can make it- it is a very fun time to get together with friends, and to put faces with names and talk. Its impossible to talk with everyone, just not enough time,
Of course, if someone lives not too far from you, and they coming to Chickenstock, they could bring the bunny along with them...
LOL! Today I let 10 new pullets (about 3 weeks old) in with my BR hens. The hens never batted an eyebrow as the little pullets went flying over and under them. My big girls are soooo understanding!
I soooooooooooooo much want to move the four week old chicks out of my kitchen and out into the yard. I will this weekend. Robin is taking the banties, and I am taking the others to my brother in law. I have the Uggo chicks that are going to Silly Chicken in my kitchen as well- and my kitchen is DUSTY.
Chickens have eyebrows?? lol
This is the smallest post I have ever seen you make.
Cat got your tongue?
My camera needs batteries! I can try to get it to work again, but..... he is a buff color, and i'm reeeeealy hoping all the buff ones weren't roos, cause they all look alike.... (his little comb is getting red)
how old is he? None of mine have red in their comb *yet*. I will try to get a picture of my d'uccles so we can all compare them.
To bad thy don't put rabbit on milk cartons.
That would be FUNNY, Sam. She is such a tame bunny, hard to believe someone isnt missing her- but then again, isnt it about time that the Easter bunny gifts are dumped? She could have been an Easter novelty.
Hi Im new to chickens too. I have 2 chicks that Im not sure what breed they are but the have personality. My daughter hatched them in school for a project now we have them at home and we love them.
Welcome Sara Jayne! That is my mother in laws name..very special name, indeed. Enjoy those little peeps- I remember hatching out chicks when I was in kindergarten! Long ago, but I attribute my hatch-aholicism to that experience today..
