Hey everybody what a beautiful day outside today. Chicks are outside loving it and I could watch them all day. Anywho here are the pics I said I'd have today hope you guys and gals like them.

I buy almost all my eggs online, and have very mixed success with them. There is no doubt that shipping is very hard on the eggs. Several batches this year have had a 0% hatch rate, although usually I do a little better. I do follow Aveca's instructions except I usually start turning after 5 days.

I have selected all my blue eggs this year according to the blue color, so hopefully there will be some nice blue egg layers. My wheatons did not do well, had 5 hatch but 2 had bad leg deformities and had to be put down. I am a little wary of picking eggs simply based on egg color, as I am looking for good layers too, but thought I would try for some bright blues. More blue eggs coming this week!

Drat. The chicken wire that is all ready wrapped around the garden is rusted. From what I can read I should probably replace it before I let the chickens run around in it so now we are one step back on the coop and run construction. Hopefully tonight we can get the duck shelter hammered together before it rains or gets dark.

I hope everyone else got outside and enjoyed the weather.

I think I'd much rather be known as a decent docent than a goofy guide.

Sometimes I'm a goofy guide. It just depends on the kids and sometimes the parents. I do try to make it entertaining. I think people learn better when they are having fun with the subject matter.

Time to scrub out the big brooder and get these orphan ducklings moved to a bigger area. I think they have doubled in size in the last week.

Then unload 3000 lbs. of topsoil, level the new border blocks and cap them.
Oh, to be young and strong again...

I was going to shovel out the chicken coop and mow the lawn today, but to hell with it, it's my birthday, we're going to the park instead. Have a nice day everyone!

I only ever had one birthday...but I've had several birthday anniversaries.

Happy b-day, Juise.

morning all

hey this is a new kid and wanting to add a couple turkey chicks where can i get them i am just west of ann arbor ???

Bonnie, we're not far from each other, I don't know how many I will end up with, but let me know how many you'd be interested in. I have Royal Palm turkeys.

And all those dandelions in the background......that is out in an open unused field. Would hate anyone to think it's part of the yard. The kids drive their toys out there.

Dear heavens, I'm glad you clarified; I almost had to put you on block or something. For a second I thought nature was taking place outside your house!!!!

And we certainly can't be having that.
