Seems the coons are getting everything they can lately. I had a friend that lost 7 chicks last night from the darn things. Definitely coon hunting season.

DD's lip looked a lot better this morning. Of course, being me, I tend to stick to a streak when I have one and managed to burn a finger on the iron today while ironing my son's graduation gown for Baccalaureate tonight. The iron was not in the off position when plugged in (totally didn't even notice) and in my ever-so-unobservant moment, I touched the darn thing (though I can't really recall why I touched the pad in the first place).

Of course, really, if my son had hung up his clothes/gown after his school's Swingout, instead of leaving them all balled up in his duffle bag....

Kids, right?
We have trapped 19 of those darn things in the last couple of weeks !!!! One got one of my broody Icelandic hens and her chick and just tore up the other eggs, except for 4 of them. I promptly put them in nthe incubator and they just hatched. I hate raccoons.

Today's cool temperature was great for working outside. Another flower bed mulched. The mulch trailer completely empty. Duck pool cleaned and refilled. And various other piddly chores started.

The biggest chore done was cutting and splitting the apple wood that I got from Opa a few weeks ago. I wanted that wood for the smoker and Opa and I had a discussion of how to cut the wood without contaminating it with chainsaw oil. Well I had an idea.

I bought an electric chainsaw (Worx) that will cut up to 4 inch diameter. I filled the oil reservoir with vegetable oil so the chunks should be good for the smoker.

The other bonus for today was when I checked the bee hives and found that they are building comb and storing honey in the second super. Both hives are thriving.
