This year was our biggest turnout yet. Over 170 souls found time in their busy schedules to join us and I'm pretty sure every enjoyed themselves; I know I did. For all of the posts of gratitude I am appreciative and humbled. This event is only successful because of everyone's participation. You all are truly wonderful people and I feel honored to know you.
Great job Opa and clan! You guys threw a great party. Would have liked to stay longer and meet more people, but I am thankful for the friends I did meet and can now put a face w/ a screen name. The youngest had puked all over me, and wasn't feeling well, so we had to make our departure earlier than hoped. On my way back to Georgia right now. Finally (after 18 months) going to sell our house in the Atlanta suburbs. Supposed to close on the house on Monday, and then drive all the way back to Michigan w/ two of the three kids, and then back to Atlanta on Tuesday for work. Hope to make more of a regular appearance on the forum than I have since the end of April when we got the chickens, but man, there is just so much work, and little time for play....guess that makes b737drvr a dull boy!
Only because of the comment I made... which came off rude instead of funny. Then she had to run off and get something before I could introduce myself.
(I saw one of Juise's sweet little girls crying next to the slide... you know the dragon/dino one with all the WOOD CHIPS under and around it... Well, I said "No wonder why she was crying, aren't they sick of wood chips by now?")
Ya know cause of the mountain of wood chips they had to spread out for the garden?... anyone?...
Oh, well...
Sorry.

Thank you so much for everything! My family and I enjoyed ourselves very much!
Darn traffic... wish we would have left earlier.
BTW... I figured BF would pick out CHICKS... he bought CHICKENS!!! So now we have 3 seperate areas for 3 batches of chickens.
1) brooder with the babies under 1 month.
2) coop with uggos
3) makeshift brooder # 2 with barred rocks
I was hoping to come home with itty bitties...
That is okay... I think an incubator might be a splurge next spring (wouldn't that be convenient?
Wow, what a great time we had this afternoon! So many wonderful people all in one spot & it was a pleasure meeting everyone. My family & I truly enjoyed the day. Yes a huge THANK YOU to Opa, Hope & Granny for main streaming the event....it is a wonderful thing you guys have started. So glad I came empty handed as for boxes/cages because I know I would of been in trouble! If I had, I know my van would of been full and I would of had to strap my kids to the roof for the ride home! lol I got some nice pictures and will post them later after my household is all settled & tucked in. I have a 13yr. old who is in dying to shoot off some fireworks.
Home here too after dropping chicks off to my mom and showing off the chicks we brought back.
For the life of me I can't remember who my oldest bought that frizzle from, with his own money so I couldn't be held responsible. The same kid that grumped and groaned about "Why do we have to go to this chicken thing!?"...yep, even he wasn't immune.
That crazy chicken rode on his lap the whole 2 hour drive home.
Actually all my boys had a chicken on their lap on the way home.
M2 - I'll have you know that Isaac, the middle kiddo, claimed the uggo. He calls it his vulture chicken and named it Drako...It's probably a boy so I'm sure the name will be fine. Lol Drako rode home on Isaac's lap and the dark brown chicken rode on Austin's lap. They are in chicken love.
They could NOT stop talking about Chimi either. "Mom did you see the SIZE of that chicken!" haha
They were also impressed with a jersey giant cockerel they saw too. Man was that thing big!
Raz - Jacob(my son that was with me when I bought it) said your honey is the best he's ever had.
OH! And I actually ended up with one of Glambka's eggs!
I was even called near the end. Couldn't believe it. It's beautiful.
We really had a fantastic time. The kids enjoyed playing in the creek, playing with water balloons, all the amazing food! I enjoyed getting to talk in real life with a lot of you! I know I didn't get to see everyone there but I tried to make my rounds! Can't wait for next year!
VJ, you are so funny! You know that egg really belongs to me, it's not my fault I am blind and old! We got home and put the "GIANT"! in my dogs kennel man he is big standing up. My son is in love with that chicken. The other giant right now is in the covered run by himself because he is picking on the little girls, my son is building another coop to put the giant giant in. To many giants. Thanks again for the Maran. When DH got home I had some "splaining to do" are you to young for "I Love Lucy"? Of course you are. I on the way out bought two more 4 day old chicks (Kathy said they were splash Brahmas?), yikes whats the matter with me. Then I saw some other ones but my daughter would not let me look, what a brat! She was thinking only of her Dad. My daughter was disappointed the the CS was over so quick. Her hubby works for the Lansing Police department night so I guess she had to wait for him to get up, darn. Oh well she met a few of ya.
Your Son's chicken is so funny it's so gentle and furry lookin'.
To everyone I spoke with today I just want to say thank you thank you for listening to me babble on about chickens, I don't know about anyone else but for this hyper old lady it was overload, in a good way. I believe I have CF (Chicken Fever) I never want to get well. Next year I am bring my hubbies truck.
Thanks to Opa, Granny, Hope which by the way I don't think I know who you are, you guys did awesome I was so side tracked that I couldn't think about anything but chickens. Please forgive me for being such a bum.
We can always have it at my house next year some people call my place "vacationland", 1/2 mile back in the woods on a private trail. I even have an outhouse if the bathroom is occupied, hahaha. It's always fun went the power goes out.
I put my new chicks with my three week old chicks and one of them is picking on one of my new ones won't leave her alone pecking at her head and the funny thing is the new one is older. I don't have another brooder light darn it.
