I'd be open to a more northern location, it would even be fun if there was camping allowed for those of us who may not have chicks to go home and take care of lol.

As for the chicken raffle, that could be a separate raffle and only those who want to add to their flock would buy and one could always donate their win back into the raffle if it wasn't a breed they wanted.

We always do separate raffles, one for $$$, one for prize items, and one for live animals which could even be rabbits or an 8 week old CX ready for processing.

I'm sure it was funny to see. Thankfully the odour doesn't bother me, but it was still unpleasant.

I'm jealous of your trip. I love riding through KY, TN, NC and such. I need a good long trip somewhere.

one of my goals is to ride to Sturgis... some day! What do you ride? I have a street bob that's
pretty bare bones, but with a screaming eagle engine package (the good one you can't get anymore). Fast and fun bike! All forward foot pegs/controlls took some getting use to but I like it! I think the only other mods we've done is remove the air cover (I couldn't get my leg around it) and we change the high handle bars for low rider bars, and DH got me the faring for my bday so I could ride a bit more.... I prefer not having it, but, it does help.

My poor pups were worn out last night from all the company we had this weekend (and their dogs). This is Diva....completely worn slap out. Thought I'd share the cuteness.

makes up for when she did this...(this was the second time she caught herself in the trap)

Crossed beaked birds need a deep dish from which to eat. They must scoop food into the mouth with a sideways motion and are very wasteful eaters. Some folks advocate removing a small amount from the leading edge however it will not correct the condition. I think the best course of action is to eliminate the bird.

Did you try putting cardboard or wood along the sides of the trap to keep the dogs out, and maybe help guide unwanted critter into the trap? I assume the trap is in its original position... Cute dogs (nice top photo too)

I debated long and hard about going to the big shindig Saturday. Planned to. Drove in to Sam's Club and bought a new cooler, bottled water, soda pop, and some stuff to make pumpkin cheesecake pies that we really like. Got home and Jo was feeling awful bad. Her meds had been changed on Thursday. Two she had taken for years were cut and a new anti-depressant was substituted. Bry had arranged to get Saturday off work so he could be home with her in my planned absence, but I decided that since I was apprehensive about the long ( for me) drive, the six hour festivities and the drive back home, prudence decreed that I pass on chicken stock this time. The posts tell me you had a great time. I'm truly sorry to have missed it. M ybe (hopefully) next year will work out better for me.

HH,

I dug up a couple Highbush cranberries for you. I'll deliver them to you. Give me a date you can be home?
I am sorry you couldn't make it. I thought maybe I missed seeing you as there was so many folks there it is hard to miss meetimg someone. I will PM you my number. I am home most of the time.

Hello fellow Michiganders! I am from the Upper Peninsula, near the Wisconsin border. I am new to raising chickens but I am already addicted!
Hello and Welcome!!

WOW! It was nice to meet so many wonerful people at CS! I made so many new friends that will last a lifetime. Since my DW decided to go she (who hardly gets on the computers) wanted to read evry post since we left there! I could sit here and thank everyone but I really want to give a shout out to OPA, GRANNY, and HOPE! You guys were amazing! OPA - yeah UCHYTIL is strange screen name - it's my Grandpa's last name who was an old time lumberjack in Oregon. You-ka-tell.

I looked thru the pictures and saw some maple syrup I made being held - hope you enjoy it! I rehomed one bunny and brought another home. The food was fantastic (I'll be asking someone for the corn/bean salad recipe). I have so many trips to plan to see some of my new friends. Well, I guess I could ramble on about how much fun that was, and how many new friends I made, but work calls.

P.S. There were some excellent ideas posted about introductions, assigned tasks, holding it twice a year, cost to rent an area. I'm totally onboard with all those ides and it would be great to discuss them further if there's interest.
I think assingned tasks are a good idea. Kind of like before chickenstock, folks will take on the threads with the chickenstock info. Someone could have a thread with volunteers to do certian jobs. Also if everyone would have contributed just one dollar it would have covered the cost of the picnic pavilion.
