Hahaha!!! No, it doesnt crow...yet. April 7th-ish is when you said they hatched right? So it'd be about 12 weeks then. Do they usually crow by now?
Uggos are born knowing that if you plan on eating them or rehoming them, that they should NOT crow until the latest possible time. AND then, to do so only in a group.
Mine is crowing... I only heard him once though...
He was framed. I think it was a barred rock that was crowing,,,,not an uggo.

And the Uggos that actually lay, take forever to do so. Hogging the nest box so the pretty hens can't get in.
Never mind that there are 5 boxes for 6 laying birds.

The 2 SLW had a mini crow off this afternoon. The one that started last week has a nice voice and the late-crower is getting there. They don't seem as loud as other roosters I've heard.

Thursday they go to camp unless someone intervenes.

Just eat em... You may as well enjoy them since you raised them. Do you know if they were townline birds also? Seems a lot of townline dottes were... Um... straight run.
That's the plan.
I got them from TSC in the straight run bin. I'll try again for SLW pullets. (Maybe)

After the roos go to freezer camp, I'll be down to 11 hens. That's where my chicken math ends, the goal was 8 - 10 layers.

Hey Nova, got my fingers crossed for your sister.

I'm better at that than the praying thing. Things have GOT to turn around for her soon, I will NOT allow anything else.

Went to a baby shower this afternoon, and hadn't really been online till the last couple of hours, but finally caught up, even read the recap. was great!

Got my 12 week old birds free ranging, I think they're enjoying themselves but seem to also think I should just feed them stuff in the grass. Well, I didn't expect the Golden Buffs to be very good foragers, had only slightly better hopes for the Blue Andalusians. Looking forward to the 3.5 week old chicks free ranging, I got those because they're supposed to be good foragers. We shall see sometime in August maybe.

DH looks a little better though he's still stuffed up I sure hope that 2.5 days of sore throat I had last weekend was all I'm going to see of the cold he's got. He's miserable, poor guy.

Should be a really bad syfy movie tonight if anyone cares, Bigfoot. We have to watch Alice Cooper is in it! Will he be eaten? will he sing? will he just have his head bashed in? Stay tuned.

Yes, it was me. Please don't assume something is my fault! Are you sure it's not something else? Our birds are just fine...seriously...anyone is welcome to come look! I invite anyone to come look! That chick was with 8 others since they hatched and not a single one of them showed signs of illness and still don't.
I think people are forgetting your birds can be very healthy and carry something that another bird (very healthy) can be affected by. there are a## of things out there that can affect our birds. A wise man once said keep separate for 1 week then but one of your birds in with them if if your bird dies don't mix with the others, if the other bird dies, don't mix with the others if all birds live your good to go. and of course stress can bring things out that may otherwise never be a problem .
Awesome. I have more hatching right now lol. Let me know if you ever need another color of Marans. I have blue, black, and black copper. One of the blue chicks I got from Jerry in Ada is a roo and has a copper neck. He for sure is a keeper lol.

I would also like to add that I bought these blue marans chicks earlier in the year from Jerry in Ada and have not had a single problem with them. He is a heck of a nice guy and I will do more business with him in the future.
Jerry does indeed have beautiful birds, they also keep the dark brown collor, mine have been laying for a yr now and still are a dark brown.
Hey Swamp... Looks like everyone is out enjoying the day... I got a migraine that I am keeping on the fringes. SUCKS!

Sister update... Things are not going well. She's running a fever and has an infection, not at the incision point, but in the round y procedure area. SO, asking for more prayers.
NOVA, this is not fair. she has been through enough!!!... keeping her in our prayers

momma hen and Therons baby's are doing very well, she is just as proud as can be with her baby's. It was so cute to watch them rubbing up against her , attached so quickly you would think she had hatched them

teeville, was going to ask you, did you stop on Lincoln lake on the way home from work . some time last yr.?. another carrier walking on the street looking for something? If so that was me. had hit a deer in the AM and was looking to see if I could find it. didn't hit it hard, think it ran off.

how is your son? hope the damage to his hand wasn't bad.
