Also make sure you have a heartworm test BEFORE you use it. Then use once a month. Works great but I have never heard that about a herding dog. My Border Collie gets it and it doesn't hurt her but if that is the case I would make sure it is safe for herding dogs before I use it.
You are very lucky! I've heard from several vets not to use it with herding dogs like boarder collies, collies, ausies,.... because a high percentage of them have fatal reactions to it. My vet has collies which is why she paid more attention to it. There is no known reason why they react differently though.

Been off for awhile. I'm sure I've missed a bunch! Oh well.

Mom - How's Clover? My bunnies all made it thru the 100 degree days no problems.

Silly - Have fun? I worked a 3 day motocross national down at Buchanan and it was 100 plus every day! Whoa, glad to be back to easier work! Hey my son won both of his races, yeehaw!

Hillbilly Hen - Sent you a PM:)

Farmerboy - I need to come see those piglets. Would evening during the week be ok? PM me!

All you other chicken friends - Have a great day!

Peace out - John

Uchytil, no... it wasn't that fun of a trip, a few high points and the rest....... was..... frustrating and hot. We drank a ton of Gatorade and that helped a lot. Congrats to your son for winning his races!

While I was gone I found out my drawing made it to the top 10. That means JD will pick the winning drawing himself. I was thrilled to make it that far. So thanks to anyone here who helped make that possible.

There is a known reason, the genetic mutation mdr1-1∆.

RB's "luck" could have been from a couple of things.

1) From what I can find the mutation has never been found in Border Collies in the U.S.

2) The mutation only reduces the dog's tolerance of avermectins. Any dog can have a fatal reaction, dogs with this genetic marker are simply likely to have it at a lower dose than those without it. The proper dose is not sufficient to elicit a fatal reaction in any dog, marker or not, but because people often administer the wrong dosing they're more likely to OD a dog with mdr1-1∆. Herding dogs are not the only ones who has been found to have the mutation either, though they make up the bulk, some hounds have also been identified.

Thanks everyone for the fruit tree idea. I was trying to tell my mom about it, and she was trying to tell me about what her sister's idea was, and it was the same thing. We are not sure what kind to get though. Cherry or Apple. My brother's favorite pie is apple.

On Sunday night, my sister in law- Amy- had 3 contractions, then it stopped. She can go into labor within a day to a few weeks. Its very scary for me think about that. My mom said that Amy was nervous when that happened. Micah is kicking hard enough for his father to feel him, and Amy saw his head pushing her belly out a bit. I am so sad when I think about him kicking and moving around like normal, but will die soon. I cried for him yesterday.

My brother will call us when Amy goes to labor, so we all can see Micah. The doctor thinks that he will not be born alive, but I pray that he will be.

I third the fruit tree.

Also, I wouldn't have guessed you at 23. Are you sure you are? Cuz you still look like a baby! I don't remember looking that young when I was 23... My then husband, he did. He had the baby face forever, and then BAM! He looks his age. Me, I still look 32. I will be 32 until I am 40, and then I will claim I am 37 until I am 45... Yup... Although, I think the grey hair is going to give it away a lot faster than that. HA!

Yup, I am sure, born in 1988. :D I get that looks from my mom. She looks about 10 or 15 years younger than she really is. People are always asking me what grade I am in. I always says that I am done with school, and I get shocked looks.

Sent PM! :)

I am quitting the Dairy farm job, and Wednesday will be my last night to work there. Its long over due any way. I have been working there for almost a year. It will be a year on August 8th. That is the longest time I have worked in one place. All other of my jobs were seasonal. Going to write a letter to my boss tonight and hand it to him that night. He does not need me until Monday night, so he will have plenty of time to find someone better to take my place. Its not a place for a deaf person like me, and some other issues anyway. Wednesday is the last day of Raspberry picking at the other farm where I also work, but they have a greenhouse of strawberries and greens that my sister and I will work until late September in the mornings. I love that job! :yesss: But again, its seasonal job. :he

took some pics of the new chicks from chickenstock. I love the dark feathers spouting from the top of the littlest ones head, don't know what breed it is (mix i assume) but I hope it is a hen. The speckled sussex is funny. .
