Thanks for asking. I (as in myself) pulled up the carpet in the walk in closet and removed the sopping wet padding. The carpet/padding in the bedroom dried out so I didn't have to into the room. (Yippie!) It's dry now so I have to re-pad and put the carpet back down (I'll let the DH do that). The laundry room linoleum is good since it lies on top of cement so no damage there. All in all, not too bad.

My DH decided to get a super-shedding dog after we had the house built. I will never get this dog's hair out of my carpet. Between the dogs, my niece living with me for a year, and my DH I want to burn the carpet. It would give me much pleasure.

And I thought I was the only one who hears "wall-to-wall carpeting" and has six hissy fits of hate for the stuff. My whole family loves it "because it's soft." I can only think of the multitude of times various animals have been sick (both ends) on it, how much dog poop and dirt has been tracked through on shoes, and how many pounds of fur are woven into it. Washing it only cleans the surface. Urrrgh, yuck, blurgh.

Unfortunately we have negative dollars for home improvement and it's subflooring under the carpet. I'd love to get some floor or garage paint and live with painted subflooring, but the family is appalled at the idea.

Ditto. I want to do this with the stairs. My mom isn't with the idea of this because she doesn't want to lose access to the front door, even though you could go down the stairs off the back deck... Sheesh.

I've been living with the 100 year old subfloor for over a year now. I refuse to get anything unless it's what I really want and since I can't afford it, we live with it lol.
