my chickens are snowed in, this morning when I went to visit they had a huge snow drift covering the coop door. I decided to keep the door closed today so that snow doesn't blow into the coop, I hope they don't mind.

Old guys are supposed to work as hard as I have today. Shoveled umpteen times even shoveled the snow out of both chicken runs. Cut up one deer and packaged it. I sure am lucky that Hope is so good about helping me. Still have two big does to cut up but they can wait until tomorrow. When my oldest son Joe was little he used to call baked goods "cookie cakes". Today David came in with some Lofthouse Holiday frosted sugar cookies. They definitely qualify as cookie cakes. In fact they probably should be illegal.

Yes Opa that is my Granparents. My dad is Allan. My Uncle Brian lives next door to my Grandparents place in the field rock house. That was my Great Grandparents place. My cousin built where the raspberry patch use to be.
I remember when the house across the street burned down.
I use to work as a kid at the raspberry patch. We got paid 20 cents a quart I think. I hated doing it because we had to go through the already picked part and get the stuff that was missed. A lot harder than the unpicked part of the patch!

We are just about ready for the party. In for lunch. Just have to mop and set up tables and chairs out in Jon's shop.

Jon has plowed with the tractor most of yesterday and a little this morning. The parking lot is ready for all the cars and the neighborhood is pretty much plowed out too. The county has already been down today and cleared the road.

I made an apple pie yesterday boy was it good! Only a couple pieces left! I think it is calling my name:D

I'm glad I'm not the only one that can hear food talking. I thought maybe it was just me or that it was another one of those old people things. It's amazing how many times I have heard a cake call my name at 2am. Got up early this morning and took David, my daughter-inlaw Amy, and here parents to Detroit Metro this morning. They're spending Xmas at Disney World. So now I baby sitting for my 4 legged granddaughter Zoe.

Yesterdays snow kept me on the seat of my JD 3020 keeping the long driveway clear, I don't in recent memory getting that much all at once.

Open up the chicken coop door and the girls get to the edge, look at all that white, and say UH UH. They will not step a toe outside of the coop.

Well, the holidays are almost on top of us, and I don't log on here too often.....so let me just say to all you Michiganders and to others as well:

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

May the new year bring you health, wealth and peace.....and God's Blessings.

Saying hi from grand rapids
I plan to become a criminal this sping with some back yard chickens
Any other future cell mates out there from grand rapids
Anyway hi to all just hang out away from all that darn snow

Yeah Michiganders!
I just got started in the chicken world this November...and ever since I got my birds the weather has gotten worse and worse with no end in sight. Judging from the piles of snow along the driveway, we're going to be buried pretty soon!

Take solice in gthe fact that you are not alone. Since you have discovered BYC you will be able to converse with others that are in the same boat. Better make that in the same ice boat. Welcome to BYC.

To all the New Eggs- Welcome to BYC!!!
Winter isn't the best time of the year to have chickens
