My daughters would love ducks, she wants a call duck. My husband says no though. We have heard they are very messy.

We have around 50 chickens already, 2 doves, 3 ponies, 2 cats, and very fertile hamsters.

Next on our list is to build a barn and get a milking cow. The kids want a dog, but not sure with the chickens.

HI Folks!!!
I am extremely new, but have loved chickens all of my life. Had pet ones when I was a kid. Now, a whole lot older, with grandkids. I have chickens again. Bantums, silkies, and a variety of larger chickens. I live around the Ionia area and wonder if there are anyone close by who would buy, sell, or trade.

. I know you'll like it here at BYC, lots of good people and some great info! I'm not trying to turn this into a grandparents thread... but, I'm a Nanna. I grew up on a farm with lots of animals and now have chickens and ducks of my own. I guess I should say they have me!!

Thanks miss jayne, but i will stick to muscovys - they have way better manners than other ducks. I just hate being run over every time I go to feed them.

We will be at Fowl Fest. If you are there look for the Wylie's. We will be the ones with the double stroller My 3 daughters will be showing in the youth division. Ameraucanas, Black Austrolorp, OEG, and bantam cochin.

We will also have 2 roosters for sale LF Ameraucana's. Very nice, just don't do LF roosters.

It will be great to put a face with a name!


We canned 10 more quarts of cider. (14 gallons total so far! I am out of shelf space to put it all.) Tomorrow we are starting on grape juice, it is a 2 day process with lots of straining through cheese cloth. (According to Ball) I plan to have everyone wear old clothes! It will be a fun family project after school in the morning.

Last time we went to a chicken show I put a name tag on that had BYC on it. Unfortunlately, I won't be able to make it cuz my mom is coming to visit from out of town, but Krisrose is going...without me.

I'll be the redhead with the 3 year old son saying...."Mommy, those chickies are coooool"!. He's a chicken addict...he takes after his mother, can you tell?
I guess I'll wear a nametag with both my screenname and my first name. We should probably all have our screennames on the nametags, because that's the only way some of us "know" each other. Maybe?
