I'm looking forward to tomorrow, looks like we couldn't have a better day for it. This morning I checked the inspection window on my incubator and 2 of my blue andalusian eggs have visible holes. Hopefully, when I come home for lunch I'll have chicks.

Congrats opa. I had about ten of my blue cochins hatch, and then some showgirls and silkies. I have 20 chicks in the brooder right now. Finally sold the last of my last hatch. I am going to keep most of these. I may sell a couple showgirls and silkies, but I want to keep all the cochins. Have fun tomorrow!

All this talk of fowl fest is not fair. DH said it is to far away, we have to many chickens already (as if there is such a thing), and we have to stay home and butcher the roosters of the meaties. Oh well I did get to go to a swap a couple of weeks ago. I hope everybody has a great time!

Hello Michiganders

I am new to this forum.....but already highly addicted. Can anyone tell me if chickens are allowed in the city of Lansing? Not that it will stop me if they arent lol

My hubby has no idea what he is in for!!!

I went to Fowl Fest today and it was very enjoyable. As Miss_Jayne predicted, I did wind up buying 2 speckled sussex pullets. Just what I need 2 more chickens, especially since 4 andalusians hatched yesterday. As we were putting the purchases from Twin City Supply, along with Granny's gimp and limp equipment, in the truck I hear "Are you Opa? It was BayCityBabe. What a pleasant surprise to meet her and her daughter. Just one more thing that added to today's enjoyment. Wish I would have ran into more of you, oh well, maybe next time.

I'm in Webster Township, just north of Ann Arbor and south of Brighton. Have 3 Buff Orpingtons and 3 SLW, 7 weeks old. First time chicken owners

We put them in their coop for the first time today

Thanks Opa!!

I have no chickens yet...I am researching everything first. I am however very addicted to them already. my kids are excited now, but when they have to wade thru a foot of snow it might be otherwise lol

I cant wait to set everything up. Do you have any suggestions on where to buy supplies feed etc since you are not far from me? So far Soldans has quite a few things but not sure they might be slightly pricey...

Many thanks

we looked HIGH & LOW for you! i think i asked every man with a G.I. special if he was you!

it was a nice time! we met wylie farms and her kids...what a great bunch of children, they were polite, kind and very good conversationalists. be proud, Mom!

i KNEW you'd get something good!
i came home with 5 call ducks! with the intention of purchasing 2. that would be all shelleyb1969's fault.

we had a blast tooling around with shelleyb1969 and her wonderful son! my son who is 9 had a great time as well as my DH. the weather was outstanding, the company was great and the poultry was fun as well.

that's it, i am on a vendetta to meet you, Opa!

We were there shortly after 8 and done by 10. Went to Bonner's, then Bavarian Inn for lunch, wandered around town some and home by 3. I was hoping that I would get the opportunity to meet you, as I have enjoyed reading your posts. Glad you had a nice time. BTW I met a man there that wants to incubate some eggs in the spring. He's 93 and drove there with his wife. That's so great. I think I want to be still raising chickens when I'm 93.

Opa, Those speckled sussex of yours are something else. What a great event for the chicken obsessed! I came home & told DH that we need to buy a farm. I am totally serious!
I wish we had been able to stay in Frankenmuth all day. I wanted to go to Bronners, the farmers market & the fudge shop. DD did not feel well, but I was able to coax her into taking this photo before we left.
