Morning, all!
As DH says...any day above ground is a good day! Could be worse, we could live in Alaska or Buffalo, NY, or we could have been on a plane near the Hudson River yesterday...after reading about that yesterday, I decided I'm not going to complain today.
I have 2 of those heated waterers, too, and they work awesome, I've never had issues with flipping them over, HOWEVER, I can't get the basin on unless I lay on the ground and look up at it from underneath! Try as I might, I just CANNOT get that darn thing to seat. My first one, I bought in the fall of '07, so I've had plenty of time to use it. Man, the concrete barn floor is mighty cold to be layin' on when I fill them...but, if you have any roos with long wattles (as I do), heated dog bowls aren't the best choice, because their wattles drag in the water & can freeze. SUPPOSEDLY, they cannot do so in the heated poultry waterers. I don't stand around and wait for the boys to drink and watch in this weather, so I can't say for sure if it helps or not, though.
My little cockerel with the weird eye issue seems to be doing fine. I've decided to just watch him closely and see how he develops. I definitely won't keep him as a breeder, though. Of course, he's the sweetest one. How is it that it's always the sweetest ones?
