Our first farm was called "Angleside Farm" it was 1200 acres, dad sold that one and bought several farms which he named "Camp 9 Cattle Farm" which was 1640 acres. We never did the plural thing....don't know why.

I have been trying to think of something for this hobby farm of mine. (just 30 acres) and I am blank.

Lumber truck is here with materials for the new coop!

Hi All,
Glad to see you back MJ and hope you are doing well!!! I will be praying for all the little ones to get better also. Our youngest son is 31. I have told ours sons that it was always nice when they were little and just a kiss and a hug would make them feel better. Now that they are older, it doesn't work any more. Too bad.
Welcome to the new ones!!! There are a lot of wonderful people on here. You will learn a lot.
Our little white silkie is going broodie again. She is such a good little momma.
That is a great incubator!!! I would like to get one some day. Right now just being on unemployment, I need to wait. God willing, it will happen for me.
Still got my coffee and Irish creme!! Now I can start the day.

Cute little squirrel too. We raised one once. Active little guys. Growing up we ate just about everything and raised about everything too. I was such a tom boy. I brought home every little critter I could find. Mom never allowed the baby skunks though.

Lumber truck arrived!

Here is the start of the new "oldstyle" chicken coop, all the framing materials, less floor. I called for a 10x16 piece of linoleum...$68.00 so it wasn't as bad as I thought.

The rest of my red steel is in too, so we can get the "gambrel" barn done this weekend and get rid of that cussed blue tarp!

The new coop is gonna go right where the old one is sitting now. That is why I am gonna build this one now, and when it is done remove the old coop and put the new one in place using my JD tractor.

Delivery guy forgot the nails, so I have to get them myself later. The delivery guy I have known for 12 years, he said he loved fresh eggs and who he used to buy them from quit raising them, so....I think I have another egg customer!

The farm next to ours is called Creaking Willow Farms. Guess what they have at the back of their property? YEP - a HUGE weeping willow that the two main trunks rub against each other when it's windy...and they creak. Mysterious sounding...it's within earshot of my garden, and I rather enjoy hearing the sound in summer when I'm out weeding & drinking a barley pop!

Nothing special I can think of. We have a loong driveway we planted maple trees along, but the word maple is used a lot in these parts. Maple Lane Farm was a thought.

We rotate corn and soybeans on our land. Raise a few hogs and chickens.

My place is a registered farm so I am legal and do make income from it, even though I call it a hobby farm. Seems anymore unless you have 6,000 acres or more you are a hobby farm. I think that in the Gov't eyes as long as you make a 1,000.00/year you are a farm regardless of size.

I just don't know.
