Hey everyone!
What a nice day today! Huh?!?!!!! I got both coops all clean and nice and the chickens had a ball running all over the yard.
My dominique roo came at me today, I was feeding one of his girls some scratch out of my hand and he didn't like that. First I kicked him, then I gave him a good whack with a snow shovel. Hopefully that will teach him, I have no place for a meanie!
We had some delish venison burgers on the grill tonight! We rarely eat beef. Venison and chicken are just about the only meat we eat. I think venison is the perfect meat. No parakeet or road kill for me thanks.

I had a wonderful day outside. We fired up the grill and had hot dogs for lunch. I just wore a sweatshirt wherever we went; no coat needed. I loved it.

But the BEST thing of all... the snow had melted off my flower garden and I can already see the tops of my daffodils poking up!

It certainly was a good day. We took the kids for a walk/bike ride around the block and then played in the yard with the chickens. Most of the girls came out of the run after I opened the door, but only after some persuading with bread. They didn't venture far though, only where the snow had melted around the coop. They have a big problem with walking in the snow. Regardless, it was great to watch them for a bit, they haven't been out in months!

Spring fever is kicking in, but I have a bad feeling it won't be here soon enough.

What a breath of fresh air in the midst of the recent freeze... the city is sloppy wet now, but being in the yard was a blast for the dog and the chickens. Got some outdoor work complete and enjoyed chatting with the neighbors who were all out and about. Hoping that we can hang onto a few more warm days!

Be well everyone!

Welcome! I bet after Alaska, Michigan winters aren't so much to whine about! Although we have definitely had winter here. Hope you are enjoying Arizona. I do remember being caught in a snowstorm up near Flagstaff one January many years back. In a motorhome. Without a working furnace. And little kids. Cold little kids. . . .

Good Morning All-

I had a dream that yesterday was Spring...but I woke up cold this morning...must not have had any covers on because it says 37 degrees out there now- much better than it has been.

Coffee's on!

I let my dogs out, and they havent come racing back, scratching at the door yet. Must mean it isn't too bad out there, or they have found something they shouldn't have...

Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday. Today will be nice to drink my coffee out there with the girls- I got seven eggs total yesterday, YAYAYAYAY! Even got a little blue egg- which means my OEGB/EE is laying again. yay!

Today is FULL of chores..the snow melted from my yard and it looks like a junk yard out there- at some point, the dogs tore up a bag of trash. It has been hidden by snow, but not anymore...not to mention, uhhh...DOG CRAP

somehow the first clean up of the year is always myyy job (I think I have it figured out, though, if you don't want to do something- act like it doesnt bother you, and eventually mom/wife will not be able to stand it anymore and she will clean it up.)

Miss Jayne- I need a good chicken or pork or venison in the crockpot recipe for tomorrow morning...need it to take about nine hours. Im out of ideas, and I hate having to start dinner at six pm...makes a long night. And we are tired of roast. Wanna help me out here?

Yesterday you could see the snow depth diminish by the hour. Perhaps today I'll be able to see grass, although I dread how nasty it's going to look. Trying to rake anything now is futile and the frozen grass is to fragile. But a portion of the day must be spent policing up all the little presents the dogs have left that have been hidden by the snow. The girls have started to pull a little of their weight this past week. I've been getting 12-15 eggs a day which is certainly nice. That that rate the cost ratio will propably drop below $100 a dozen before you know it.

I call them little doggie presents "Land mines" cause you don't want to step on one.

I have 30 acres them little doggies can deposit on.....and they choose the lawn.

Good morning all.....moving day for the henhouse...... I hope.
