It is always so nice to see so many new people coming in and learning about all the chickens.
Those are some cute pictures everyone!

My son is trying to figure out where he put my camera cord so that I can post some. Hopefully he will come up with it soon.

We have a lot of leaves out here and used the piles of leaves to shovel all around the coop so that the chickens can at least get in and out without wading water. Now they are all happy and running all over the yard. The younger chicks are following me all over when I go out cause I always bring treats to the birds. We lost one more little silkie and I took all the rest of the wet birds and put them in with my babies under the heat lamp. They are all fine now.

So thank you all for your offer to help. I do really appreciate it.

God willing, in the future, we can move the coop or tear it down and rebuild it better.
Our younger chicks I throw scratch grain in and bread pieces and smaller grain. For a couple of days, the grandsons have been throwing little worms in there and watching them chase each other all over. They get a big kick out of that.

Take care everyone and God Bless you all!!!

Im soo mad,

This morning I went to go check my seb egg and it hadnt pipped so I took it out to make sure that it was atleast still attempting and I didnt hear a thing, so I decided it was time to intervein (It was day 31 after all) and I opened it from the bottom where the aircell was and nothing, no moving, wiggling, nothing. I take it out and inspect the baby and it didnt develop any eyes and still had a teaspoom amount of yolk left. Thats the second time this has happend.

Vicki, I got your eggs. All of them came in perfect condition. My dog had a blast with the stuffing LOL.

Ok here it is. It actually used to be our trailer that we lived in years ago before we built our house. We gutted out the trailer and re-used parts of to build the chicken coop. Pardon the junk around behind it

we are getting ready for dump day, among other things. Yes I put a chair inside the pen so I could sit with my chickens. My hubby laughed at me and said he can tell that I am getting old

Here are the Phoenix chickens we have. I could not figure out why our young chicks were not coming out today, then I saw the rooster chasing them back inside.

Hi all, had a busy day at work...but sure enjoyed being outside in the nursery. Picked up my meat birds and turkeys at the PO this morning. I am happy to say they all seem to be doing well. I was a good mom and dipped all 120 beaks in the water and then feed. Now my back is killing me from bending over while doing it:he There is one little chick that I am keeping my eye on. It stands leaning to one side, and seems to be having a tough time walking straight. I stayed out with it for awhile helping it to eat and drink. Hopefully some good food will help strengthen it.

Now off to take pictures of all the cuties. I forgot how funny the cornish crosses could be. One minuet they are sitting still and then they are running full speed across the floor.

Hi all,
On Monday our school had 12 Mallard ducklings hatch in the courtyard - talk about cute! This morning when we came in, there were only 9.

There was a crow on the roof, looking down in the courtyard. As several teachers and students watched, the crow swept down and cracked one of the little ducklings on the top of the head.

The poor baby fell to the ground, with its little legs up in the air. I ran out and picked it up, it was still alive. We called Bird rescue, who told us that the baby was probably OK! That it was just knocked out and in shock. I put it in my hoodie pouch to keep it warm and drove it over to the Bird place right then and there. By the time I got there, the duckling was awake and beginning to move around some.

The rescue lady told me we needed to try to get the other babies out of the courtyard - if the mother knew what she was doing, she would follow the babies out or find the babies when she heard them peeping. We did that - but, the mother didn't find the babies, she just ran around quacking. Those babies are at rescue also - the duck lady said to bring them in, so the babies are together.

(The mom flew away somewhere - maybe looking for a new husband.)
