Hello Everyone!

I live in Port Hope in Michigan's thumb. New to the forum and new to chickens. I love my four little chickens. I suspect one may be a rooster, however.....hmmm.....had to rely on the girl at the feed store to pick out hens for me....oops, I think she might have picked out a rooster instead. Anyway, I am in the process of building a suitable coop for them.....have no idea what we are doing so we are trying to learn as we go. Hoping to find some used siding for the outside....maybe someone knows where I can get some in my area?

I believe that chickens think in their small little heads....enjoy watching them and wonder what goes on inside those tiny brains.
I talk to them and treat them as pets. One person asked me why I am picking them up. I was so surprised that they asked.

Happy chicken keeping to all.....
Jessie

I think you will like it here, there are a bunch of nice folks here, except Boyd, who is laughing at me cause he doesn't want to come mop my floors. Just kidding!

Good Morning and
welcome-byc.gif
to all the newbies! Really don't mind the rain so much, I just wish the weather would be warmer! Guess I won't be weeding, either. That's ok, house needs some attention! Hope you all have a great day.

Morning all! Anybody else's garden not quite up to par? Mine seems so slow growing this year. Out of 100 pumpkin seeds planted only three have come up. I have given the seeds 3 weeks to come up and so I am going to plant some more, albeit late. I guess it's worth a try. My beans, zucchini, squash, and watermelon are growing, but seems kinda slow. My peppers and tomatoes are fine, though. I guess looking back last June was definitley constistently warmer than this June. The guy at the grain elevator said it isn't a great year so far for gardens around here. Anybody else?

My garden seems to be doing ok. The tomatoes and okra are a little slow though. I did get a mess of turnips picked last weekend but they like the cool weather. I never had much luck with the pumpkins so I did not plant any this year.

My garden isn't doing so hot either. My tomato plants are so-so, my peppers are doing horrible, my cucs and squash are looking pitiful... the only thing looking o.k are my beans! The weeds are bigger than my plants!

Good morning Michigan BYCers. Welcome to all the newbeeeees. Doc has ordered me to stay off the puter because of my pinched nerve but had to let everyone know that I am still around. Hope everyone is having a wonderful summer and that your little chickies put a smile on your face.

Great place you found, lots of friendly people here!! As to the person who asked you why you picked them up, don't they pick up their pets????

Well, I am off to a super busy day today, it seems it never ends! But then, if I sat around and did nothing, how bored would I be?????
