Hey Everyone - Does anyone have experience in keeping 2 families of hens and chicks together? We've had 2 hatchings from 2 seperate hens and would like to put everyone in the same home - thoughts??

I have a young pair that you may have. I got them from MJ. I love them, but my bantam hen is wanting their heads on a platter! I do not know what color they are... The male is feathering out with black, brown and white. The female is either dark brown and white or black and white.

If those came from MJ, then I would guess they are from my muscovies eggs. They will be black and white, no brown in them.

MJ The chocolate muscovy is doing great. Thanks again.

Thankyou! All I know is they are beautiful!

Thanks - they've been side by side nesting but I'll take your advice and separate them - thanks - soon to be changing my BYC name to Broody Hall (our new broodie coop!)

I have a 6yr old daughter who loves to catch those little toads too...she thinks they should live in her little bug-cage and I'm pretty sure she thinks they can't live without her help and she transplants them into the garden

Thanks, MJ for the words of support.

I dropped the pullet off at the vet this morning. She was barely hanging in there. It is a relief to know that she is no longer uncomfortable and our family will have some important info in a matter of days.

Hey! Just curious if anyone has about 3 doz duck eggs for eating? Or if anyone could collect that many between now and chickenstock? My dad has a great duck-egg-noodle recipe and we're having a hard time finding that many eggs at once.

The ducks I got my hatching eggs from live where there's three egg-hungry GSD's that steal and eat them before anyone can get them! I collected the eggs I hatched out while the dogs were away and I was house sitting. OH! By the way....we now have seven pretty little ducks

Those are toads, actually. Every time I mow the grass I have to stop ten to twenty times, get off the tractor and pick them out of the grass so I don't mow over them. My kids follow me around and whenever I pick one up I give it to them and they run to the garden and put it under a plant.

Sometimes I run over larger creatures by mistake, occaisionally a frog will come shooting out the deck on the mower. It's unfortunate, but the chickens love it when I throw dead frogs in their run.
