I wanted to share some pictures of the beautiful turkeys from MJ.

This is JD the Bourdon Red and Harley the Sweetgrass

They got skiddish and shy when I put them out to the coop. This weekend will be 2 weeks. I try to go out there each day and sit for a while and give everyone some treats. Over the last couple of days the turkeys are coming around me to eat the treats with the chickens. Daisy the female SG will come right over to me now. She won't let me pet her yet, but slow and steady will win them over I hope.

I forgot I got a picture eariler in the day of the tom strutting. It's not a great picture due to it was taken with my phone, but here it is.
I was afraid he would stop if I got to close.

You should have heard my boys reaction to the fact that you would not be there! Boy were they bummed out. Then I reminded them that other people would be bringing all sorts of yummys, and they cheared up a little, but they're still going to miss ya.

Hi! I got some pictures to show you guys! Here's a really cool old book aboue Capons from the 1960's that I got from my great-grandma's house. I'll bring it to chickenstock if anyone wants to take a look at it! Very interesting pictures and articles.
Pictures are kinda fuzzy cause of the flash but still is cool!

yes, still done, but illegal in some states. you gotta check yourself before you wreck yourself. well, someone else anyway.

it's really simple apparently. find the correct rib, slice, remove. allow the space to close. no stitching necessary. eh voila. capon.
