I do the ones for my family myself, and take the larger amounts to the processor. I'm just not fast enough at plucking feathers, and the pinfeathers are darker in the range birds. The ones I picked up from the processor today looked SO much better than my handplucked ones.

I'm hoping to build a Whizbang here very soon so that I can do everything myself!

DH will probably have our little welsummer cottage done today or tomorrow. He is taking the day off work tomorrow and my middle son is home for a few days to help. All of the materials are leftovers from when we built our house 13 years ago.

if anyone is looking for a nice set of Rouen ducks, a neighbor brought some down. they are in quarantine. young from this spring. they are free and gorgeous. three drakes and a duck. all free.

i was asked to speak next week on free ranging vs. caged meat options at a healthy eating class! how cool is that!?!?! very exciting.
