Wow talk about flying cows! Mother nature sure is in a flurry.

I stayed in my camper last night just in case the wind caused a big uproar here as I cannot hear a thing from inside my house. I didnt sleep much at all. Got up every few hours to check on the horses and chickens. My 130# Dobe went out with me at 4:30am I held onto her coming back from the barn she looked up at me like "WHAT are we doing out here, are you crazy???" lol If only dogs could talk I would have heard an ear full for sure.

Daylight is just breaking out and I can see a whole lot of "stuff" in my yard that doesnt belong to me. Looks like clean up duty today.

I hope everyone fared out the weather okay. And all is safe and sound!

Beast the wonder mutt (his actual name) is a great protection/attack dog that we've trained as a pup. He loves nothing more than to please the people that he owns and takes care of. He even likes the 21 month old stinky human who pulls his tail, because either he's got an idea that snotty faces are delish, or he is genuinely giving her kisses.

He has one Achilles heel though, Storms. Thunder storms and wind storms scare the crud out of him. Last night he knocked the bedroom door open, and wedged himself right between me and the wife with his head on the pillow looking at me. At 2 am i didn't care.....

5:00 am i get a lick and a face full of butt breath

Guess it was time for him to make sure his humans were getting ready for school and I was needed to supervise and pass along his directions.

Life is good, but thank gosh for california sized beds. I have 2 large Dobes, a 200# Enlish Mastiff , Great Dane pup that just turned a year old that looks like a moose, 19 yr old blk lab and a mini dachshund. All with the exception of the male dobe, sleep with me. Try to move in bed when you have that many pounds laying on the covers or on top of you. LOL Just about impossible.

AND the extra work of changing sheets daily and washing them. But you know, I wouldnt have it any other way.

You should see when company stays the night..hehehe

Oopsy- I guess we were both up at 4 a.m., due to the wind. I had to secure a 5 gal. bucket that was blowing in circles all night. I wouldn't have minded if it blew on over to the neighbor's, then I could have rolled over & gone back to sleep.

I think this is just practice for another long winter... Opa, is that what the Farmer's Almanac says?

Man oh man was that wind loud last night. DId anyone else have howling winds all night?

Does anyone know of any dog/cat/ horse/ 4-H/poultry shows going on this next few weeks? Other then fowel Fest? I can't make it to Fowel fest. But I can get school credit hours for going to animal related shows. So if you happen to know of any on the South Eastish sitde of the state please let me know. Thanks!!!

Also if anyone is interested in a Dominque Rooster, I still have my sweet little guy who will need a new home BEFORE he starts crowing.

Hey I'm in Michigan too. Near Mt. Pleasant. Winds were crazy here. I don't have my chickens yet. Husband is just finishing the door to the outside run area. Then I'm ready to roll. I'm looking for some Marans either Black Copper or welsummer. And help would be great. thanks

Hey Anny-----here is the link to the MSU pavillion.

https://www.msu.edu/~pavilion/

The have several horse shows this month. The draft horse show charges admission, but the paint horse show on the weekend of the 23-25 is free to get in and fun to watch if you like horse shows. Here is the link for it.

I don't know of any dog shows right off hand, maybe you can try the AKC or UKC websites to see if there is anything scheduled. Good luck!!!

Good afternoon everyone. We are mostly surrounded by fields so just a lot of leaves from our trees and some branches in our yard. Due to all those fields though the wind gets crazy!!! I swear our awning over the back patio was gonna be ripped off by morning. But the OLD barn is still standing. I don't think the darn thing is ever gonna fall down. The day it's not insured anymore will be the day it falls.

good morning all!

was getting ready to do my workout when my son yells, "UM, MOM! THE RHODE ISLAND RED HOOP HOUSE IS UPSIDE DOWN AND THE CHICKENS ARE ALL OVER!"

it blew over and rolled about 70 feet or so. he helped me set it right and ran back to the driveway to catch the bus just in time!

and the chickens all went right back inside for their food and water! (well, except for Chocolate Thunder who is still ranging about.)

phew! got all the chores done and then came back in and did the workout.

is it breakfast time yet???? i'm getting hungry!
