Thank you all for the prayers. My cousin Jon is only 2 years younger than me and we grew up playing together. I did get good news today. It is not a actual clot anymore it actually turned into a bleed, but it has stopped. It is not even bad enough for them to have to drain to relive pressure. Now it is just getting the blood pressure back under control. Hopefully he will be back home for Christmas.

That is great news! Praying for a speedy recovery and home in time for Christmas

I'm glad to read that Briana's cousin is doing better. Evidently prayers work. I seem to find my self talking to our maker more than I used to. Maybe because I'm getting closer to meeting him. Seems like every time I turn around I losing a friend.

Muzzleloading season is going much better than gun season. I took another large doe this morning and she is now hanging and I will butcher her on Monday. Today I took the hind quarters out of the brine, coated them with black pepper and coriander and tomorrow they go in the smoker. I will also be doing a batch of summer sausage to smoke on Sunday and hard salami will start aging.

Brianna, pryaers for your cousin that he will be better soon.
Wylie, I read the post about your sick chicken. I have no idea what is wrong but I hope she will be fine soon.
Michiganlarry, congrats I know you are excited to see your son and i hope you all have happy holidays!

MichiganLarry, My husband was an ET in the Navy - after he was discharged in San Diego he had no trouble getting an ET job in Aerospace. He went on to college and got his degree in Electrical Engineering. The Navy is a great place to start a career no matter how you look at it. Congratulations!

Opa, I never liked venison, but you make it sound so terrific, maybe I'll need to try it again some time.

Whew!

Good Morning!

A2- enjoy your 2 weeks off!

It snowed some here last night, around an inch or so. Just got done shoveling the concrete out front. Darn dog was trying to eat the snow as it was being shoveled. Crazy guy!

Rachel's chicken that I posted about can see again. Still swollen some, so hopefully will recover.

Play practice this morning, piano Christmas concert at assisted living place in Hartland at 1pm. I dislike driving down M-59 and I get to do it 2 days in a row! Then I get to go and try to finish shopping with everyone else who has procrastinated

Talk to you all later!

Brianna: Glad to hear your cousin is doing better. Hopefully he will be fully recovered in time for Christmas.

Opa:
Congrats on another kill. Your freezer must be getting pretty full.

Larry: BIG CONGRATS to your son. Im sure he'll make you all proud. So glad to hear he's coming home for the holidays. YEAH!!!!

YakLady:
If you have a black eye, its okay you can tell us? LOL My RIR young Roo flapped me so hard this summer when I picked him up, he bruised the side of my face. I told him ONE more time and you're going into the pot.

Wynette:
Glad to see you back.

Well Christmas shopping is completed, thank gosh for online shopping. Now the cooking/baking starts. Im trying some recipes from here on BYC. Made a pear, apple and black raspberry pie last night with cinnamon sugar on top. OH MY it was soooo good. Today going to make Lemon Coconut bars and tomorrow Fudge brownies with butterscotch chips then carmel/cashews on top. I can see me next week, have handles on my back side LOL

I have to share about the inners of the chickens I butchered last week. Pressure cooked the gizzards and hearts and made dumplings out of the stock. Also made dumplings out of the stock from the feet too. Both times, it was so wonderful. And the inners were so tender you could cut them with a fork. I lightly dusted the livers in rice flour and seared them up. They were so fresh and good that I even ate them the next day, cold out of the fridge. So for those of you that usually dont keep the inners, try them just once. Im sure you'll be surprised. I have always bought from the store, I will never again, as there is no comparison in flavor/taste.

The extra feet stock Im going to make cream of chicken with wild rice next week. Im sure it will be very delish.

Happy Holiday to you all.

Sounds delish, Oopsy! My hubby and I are big fans of gizzards and livers. We also love to keep chicken stock on hand. Hopefully, I'll be able to talk hubby into letting me raise some meat birds this Spring. Would really love to have my own chicken on hand.

No bruises yet. LOL! Except to my heart. I just couldn't do it. I took one look at him and knew I wasn't going to cage him. Talked to Hubby about it, and he's going to build a big cage just outside the 'warm' wall of the coop. It will be big enough so that I won't feel awful about having him in there. I'm sure that will get done tomorrow. I got the coop cleaned out today, and decided to just keep using straw for awhile, since we had already bought a bunch of it. Got about halfway done with the sheep pen and had to take a break. Will finish tomorrow.
