Ok Michigan folks I have a request.

Does any one sell or know of anyone in Michigan that breeds and sells Old English Game birds? I am trying to get a replacement "Miss Jane" for Rachel for Christmas. No luck at the swap meet we bought her from. I am going to check out the breed website too. Thought I would thow it out here too.

Thanks,
Sarah

Welcome to the new people.

Well we will now have some venison in the freezer. This one is getting turned into all burger. My husband was unlucky enough to hit one with his car this morning. Didn't kill it but broke at least 3 of it's legs. The cop had to shoot it to put it down. The car is pretty beat up and leaking stuff. Husband is fine. But we will have meat in the freezer again.

to all the newbies! This is a great site.
Been baking goodies. Family comes Christmas eve. So good to get the family together!!
Sun is out...yeah! Makes it look so pretty. Have a good day, all.

Just came in to get my hands warmed up and have a cup of coffee and some Lithuanian nut cookie that Granny and Amy made yesterday. The truck bay of my shop is unheated and is perfect for hanging deer. I've got a hoist and trolley system that will allow me to hang six deer. It makes it nice in that I can cut off a quarter and then bring it into the shop where it is warm. However, get the meat off the deer can sure make your hands cold. Anyway it's a good excuse to stop and eat cookies. We will be making another batch of sausage and placing more meat into brine for pastrami. David and I slice and vacuum sealed all that I had made previously and it sure looks as good as it tastes.
Took a backbone out and placed it in with my LF birds. Merry xmas chickens.

We have all enjoyed them this evening, probably a little too much!

Off to finish up a few things then off to bed. I hope my head/sinus cold will be gone in the morning. too many things to do to deal with this.

Hillbilly Rooster: CONGRATS I cannot wait to see pictures of the beautiful bundle god left for you. What a wonderful present!!! I love my grand babies so much, its a heart wrenched feeling that you yearn for. And a blessing that one should never miss. Give your daughter a huge hug for a life/job well done.

Welcome LightHawk, SweetCHicks and Chassellchic.
You'll all love this forum. Such kind hearted people that are ready to help when ever needed. And also books of knowledge when it comes to raising chickens.

YakLady: WOOOOOO WOOOOOOOOO green eggs! Now that is another wonderful present. My first pullet egg I was just about in tears as its like a god send for us to enjoy...daily.

Opa: You keep posting about your venison dishes, and I sit here and drool. You should write a book on dressing a deer, processing and recipes. I would surely buy one. Just a thought.

MERRY CHRISTMAS to all my chicken loving friends. And Happy New Year!!!!

PS found a wonderful home for one of my Dobe pups today. A couple from Burton that are both officers of the law. Cannot wait to see the look on their childrens faces when I deliver their puppy tomorrow. They are such a great family and Im sure this puppy will have the best home ever.

Good morning. Sitting here drinking my second cup of coffee and trying to psych myself to believe it isn't cold outside. Headed for the woods in a few minutes to try and get my seventh deer. Then I have to come home and get a few things done for tomorrow. I have always celebrated xmas on the 24th due to my work schedule when I was on the fire department. I always traded with another guy so he could have off xmas day and since my sons would go to their mother's house of xmas day it worked out well. Now that tradition works out well as it allows David and Hope's boys to go to their in-laws if they wish.

Good morning everyone. Had a quick minute to stop in and say hello. Looking forward to chickenstock in a few months.
Daughter is home from MSU, and me made our traditional fudge. She has been delivering it and visiting her friends here. I have to say, I think I am getting used to having an empty nest. (things seem a little crowded already lol) Love her to death.... and it is nice to have her home.

Good day all!!
