Thanks. May give it one more try this afternoon. Sat out in my blind 2/3rds of the day yesterday watching squirrels and birds and nothing else. Frustrating but worth it to get out of the house and get some fresh air. Cold fresh air I might add. Brrrrr!

Happy New Year!

I had no kids at home last night! It was so quiet, I didnt know what to do with myself

Jon and I went out, first time we have done a new years eve party in 14 years.

All of the kids are home now, some are crabby! Going to go shopping again. To Target and Walmart. I already went and bought a calender at the outlet mall 2 miles from me, since they are 50% off on Jan.1st

Have a great day everyone with the start of a new year!

Happy New Year, all.

I've been so busy with children, Holidays, my husband's 50th birthday and taking care of critters that I haven't been on here in quite some time. My youngest, who lives with us fulltime, ended up staying with us for the Holidays. He was supposed to go visit family in Texas, but was unable to fly out due to bad weather in Dallas. It was wonderful having him stay home. My oldest 3 flew in from Houston, and experienced their first snow here. They had a ball! When I moved up here, I gave them the choice to relocate with me or stay there and finish school. I have no family, and their dad has a large family there in Texas. All their friends that they grew up with are there, too. It was best for them to stay there. Their visits are very precious to me, and today I had to part with them.

My oldest is 18, and she wants to move up here this Summer to go to college. I hate to bore you with pictures, but you guys are kind of an extended family. I'd like you to meet my babies:

Hubby, Tom, and me (Cayce).

Now that the kiddos have left, I'll be back on here more frequently. Thanks to all of you on here for your internet friendship and very helpful advice. I look forward to the upcoming year's poultry experiences with you.

Someone had posted a topic about their huge egg in the chicken stories section. I had to reply with some pics of my own monster egg. A few days ago, the kids came in with three duck eggs, one of which was the biggest egg I had ever seen. We all felt so sorry for the duck who laid it! It turned out to be a double yolker. I took a bunch of pictures, and posted a few pictures here:

Nice pics YakLady. It's great to have time with family for the Holidays.

lighthawk (Rich) - You're from Gobles!?! I live in Mattawan. We have some friends from church that live out your way. Small world!

I hope you all had a nice New Years Eve. We actually had our first just us and the kids night, in five years. We always have a big family, friends, and neighbors New Year party. It was always fun but a huge mess to clean up the next day. Last week we had a family get together everyday starting Christmas Eve all the way thru to Sunday. So we were kinda familyed out. I guess you can have too much family togetherness.

For everyone that said a prayer for my cousin, thank you again. He was able to be home for Christmas. Unfortunatly he headed back to the hospital today. Blood pressure spike again. Hopefully they can get it straitened out.

YakLady, you have a lovely family. Looks like they are all having a blast!

I got a big surprise today, well it wasn't really big, but I got my first ever welsummer egg. My oldest wellie girls are just 22 weeks and I thought it would be at least another month before they started to lay.

Laura, the eggs will get larger. I've noticed a lot of variance in color even with the same bird. Sometimes they will be speckled as your is and other times they will be a very dark terra cotta with tiny darker speckles.
