Emily auditioned for the Music Man this morning...we were there from 9am til 12:30pm. Shopped at Walmart and now I am making dinner to then take off to church for a youth group event tonight.

Oh and I ran 7 miles this morning on the treadmill! I am tired!

Hi everybody. Turn out Connie is a Carol....

I have a wonderful friendly dominique rooster who needs a new home as soon as possible, he just started crowing this week and I need to relocate him before my whole block hates me.

He is very social, a wonderful lap chicken, and a true charmer with the ladies. He is so pretty to, I'll post pictures tomorrow if anyone is interested. Please send me a message if you are interested. I would like to find him a new home tomorrow or Monday. I could even deliver him to you if you are not to far away.

Hi Chicken Friends

The usual busy stuff around here. We lost a rabbit this week, my Nathan had a lop that we had adopted a few years ago, his name was Stu, he was very old, we think about 9 years. My Nathan was sad, he has never lost a pet that was so close to him.

I was at a childcare conference all day today. It was fun, I learned some new things which is always good!! Other than that, the same ole stuff.

Wow Sarah, that is a good run, way to go!!!

Good wet morning all!
My backyard looks like a lake- well more like a poop-filled skating rink. Owning four dogs is NOT a good thing when the snow melts.

My hens yelled at me this morning for making it rain.
But everyone is fed and happy now.

Back to my regularly scheduled coffee.

Went out at 5am and opened the nest boxes for the large fowl. So far the new nest box seems to be working. Just finished fixing breakfast for Granny and I and her living with us has sure made get my weight under control much more difficult. Before moving her in with us I would quite often skip meals, some days eating only one meal, and maybe not eating at all. Granny wants 3 meals per day and if you go more than a few minutes beyond what she feels what should be the appointed meal times she starts thinking she is going to starve to death. Completely understandable but it makes it harder for me to keep my waistline where I'd like it to be. I think I'd better get back in the habit of using my gym on a daily basis.

Good morning all. No way are my chickens getting out of the coop today. Darn things don't have enough sense to stay dry, and later on tonight I would have cold frozen chickens after the temp starts to drop.

My husband would get along great with your Granny. My husband is convinced he will die of starvation if he misses a meal- and doesnt believe in a small breakfast, or God forbid, a bowl of cereal and toast. No for him its eggs and sausage, or biscuits and gravy, or ham and eggs, etc. I don't even eat breakfast- most days, it is just a light brunch after my days chores are done. However, weekends with him are a HUGE meal deal.

The squirrels I have rehabbed are the babies-to-release age ones. I much prefer oppossums. I need your help. I have a squirrel out front, affectionately known as "Frontyard Squirrel"..as opposed to "BackYard Squirrel"- they do not switch places. Frontyard squirrel eats in the front yard, backyard squirrel stays in the backyard...My house is their boundary line, apparently. He has a HUGE bare patch on his back, looks like mange or from scratching for fleas. His tail is completely full, thankfully. Do you have any idea how I could get some meds or flea product on him/in him to help him out? At this rate he is going to be bald by spring. I dont want to trap him-I would rather fill peanuts or something with meds if possible.

Not nearly as much rain as they said, no flooded backyard. Our coop is on stilts (sort of like an open walk-out for the chickens) so they love to go outside and peck around under their house. Lots of grass was revealed with the rain and they are enjoying picking through that. We've had many eggs lately, those Welsummer eggs are so gorgeous. Nice hens too, very calm and fun to watch - they are our best flyers and most adventuresome. I think that's one of the things that I most enjoy about chickens, the variety of breeds. I've got lots of papers to grade, I wanted to just drop in and wish everyone a happy Sunday.
