I agree wholeheartedly! I made sure to show my boss how much snow we are getting... just in case I don't make it in to work Wednesday

I'm sure it will be a snow day for the kids too. Might have to take them sledding

I'm not looking forward to the snow, but I AM going to enjoy playing in it with my 4 year old.

He loves the snow...he thinks he's a big man by helping dad shovel the walkway.

And sledding is always on the agenda. We hook it up behind the 4-wheeler and go all over.

I am not looking forward to the snow. Yikes. I know it's been an easy winter......but I so want some warm weather. NOW!!!

I ready for spring at all that comes with it. I have so many young pullets that should start laying anytime that it is hard for me to wait. I want all those eggs to put in the bator and the cute fuzz butts. We will have our hands full here this year. I have over 100 chickens, and more on the way. It was so nice having pullets hatched early enough to start laying before winter last year, that I have ordered more this year. In two weeks we will be adding Chanteclers, Silver Laced Wyndottes, Dominiques, and Barred Rock pullets to our growing lists of breeds. We will be keeping some for ourselves, but the reast will be for sale if anyone is looking. We will also have Black Java, BLRW, Heritage bloodline Del's, and EE/Ameracauna chicks as soon as the weather turns. Of coarse by that time we will start bringing in all the meat birds again. Yikes! We raised over 700 chickens and 70 turkeys last year. Who knows what could happen this year.

I'm getting tired just thinking about it.

Wow Ellen that is a lot of poultry!!

Sounds like we are gonna get blasted with snow. Granted that is what they said last week about Lenawee and Monroe county 2-4 inches and we ended up with a dusting. My husband is looking forward to getting the tractor and blade out though.

No omlet yet, Sam.
Thought it would be sooo cold out there being in the single digits this morning but it wasn't bad. With the sun and no wind, it was actually pleasant. Took the dogs for a long walk and enjoy it. Didn't get cold at all.
How's Granny doing, Sam? Hope all is well with her.
Hubby is laying the tile down in our bathroom. One step closer to getting done. Haven't gotten our vanity yet, tho. Glad we have more bathrooms!
Enjoy the day, folks, before the big snow comes. Good chance on not getting it...sure can't depend on what the weatherman says.

I just read Bill's Blog (woodtv) and he said that we will be upgraded to a storm warning by tonight with Blizzard conditions...

Glad I restuffed some shavings for the girls out back....

Following is cut and paste from his blog...

Winter Storm Warning will be issued this PMFebruary 7th, 2010 at 10:30 pm by Bill Steffen under Bill's Blog, Weather

<*US Warning Map. This could be the biggest synoptic event of the
winter for southern Michigan. Monday AM update: Winter Storm Watch
for 6-12* over 36 hours starting early Tuesday AM. This is going to be upgraded to a warning this PM. It*s already a Warning (pink color on the map) for the counties that border Indiana. The Watch covers all of our area*all of Indiana and Illinois and most of Wisconsin and Ohio.
Here*s NAM model snowfall and GFS model snowfall. Latest GFS plot
gives us about 0.60 precip. with the snow starting around daybreak
Tuesday. At a 15-1 snow to water equivalent * that would be 9* of
snow for G.R. It may snow a little harder Tues. Night than during the day Tuesday, esp. NE of G.R. Schools likely open on Tuesday. Tuesday into Wednesday morning will be snowy with snow covered roads.
Snowplowers*.salting/sanding may be necessary for the AM rush hour on
Tuesday*2* on the ground by Tuesday
evening * more SW of G.R*.6*+ by Weds. AM. Schedule errands for today if you can. GFS plot has nothing warmer than mid 30s through Feb.
23. The NAO is in the tank negative and the Arctic Oscillation stays negative*evidence that winter*s going to hang on probably all or almost all of the rest of this month and maybe into March*no significant thaws. Remember I said that the two years that we had the most similar patterns to this year*we had above normal snowfall in Feb.-March with 8*+ snowstorms in both February and March and the cold air hanging around through the first part of March. This storm will also produce significant snow in the big cities of the East, with New York and Boston getting in on the action this time. Another storm Friday/Saturday will likely bring snow all the way down to Dallas and maybe Atlanta. All time biggest 24-hour snowfalls for Grand Rapids in February: 11.4* 2/3/2007, 9.1* 2/11-12/1985.
61% of the Lower 48 States has a snow cover this morning. Also, officially we have only had one day (1/25) since 12/3 when we have not had at least 1* of snow on the ground in Grand Rapids at 7 AM.

Yeah, I heard that on the radio on the way home from dropping Doug off at the airport.

I'm doing what people do where I'm from in Rhode Island. I'm going to the store in a couple hours, buying any little things I might need ( bread and milk usually in RI.

) and comming home. Then I'm not leaving until they get the roads clear. My snowshoes are waiting by the door.

Uggh! I have to go to Big Rapids Wed. morning. I think that they aren't supposed to get as much snow as predicted here. DH said he will stay up and do some plowing in the morning and then take me. I don't drive in the stuff.

LOL I havent watched TV in over 20 yrs per say, so I had no clue about the storm until this early evening when a good friend called and let me know. At least I had hay delivered yesterday and picked up 1500 pounds of chicken feed last week. Tons of milk in the freezer just might run low on dog food, but Ive got plenty of necks and wings to get us through a few days. Seems where I am right on the I-69 border between Flint and Pt Huron, if they call for 5 inches we get 10 here. Its like a big snow belt. Guess I better call my plow guy just in case.

Im going to have to read the back posts here to catch up...but I hope this finds you all healthy and happy.

I sure miss reading in the mornings here. I'll have to find more time to do so.

Good morning all!! Not as cold this morning. We already have some snow flurries starting here, but we are south of most of you guys. I am either hoping no snow days from school or it is so bad the parents stay home too. I am the only mom home and a couple friends and neighbors will bring there kids by for the day if we have a snow day. This will be the first snow day of the year if it happens. I guess I better find some things they can do just in case.
