I agree, RAIN has not only happened, but according to my rain gauge it has happened in big amounts!!! How do you get clay ground to be workable when you get inches and inches of rain?

What a mess lately... But on a positive note the garden is growing, great guns. We should have tomatoes, cukes, peppers, squash, pumpkins, etc. coming out of our ears!

Keep smiling!

Dave

Hello All!
Well, I sent off all the odds and ends cockrels that were thrown in with my speckled sussex and now have a booming 15 in my coop!

It's still a little chicky mosh-pit at feeding time though!

They experienced their first watermelon scraps yesterday...and after the initial fear of being eaten by the watermelon they dug right in and hollowed it out!

I can't wait to try out some grapes or tomatoes on them once they get a bit older!! I love to watch them chase each other because you know it must be better if someone else has it!
With all this rain the garden is booming and growing along with all the weeds...been out there every night trying to keep up with everything. (little at a time as I'm due next month and trying to take it easy) Tonight I look out back to see 3 young does eyeballin' the garden (looked something like this-->

) so out went the dogs as a discouragement to them getting close to the garden! I'm going to be eating deer early this year if I go out tomorrow and half my garden is gone!!! LOL OH, and speaking of critters in the backyard we've got a lone wolf wild turkey that lives around our property and he spent about 20 minutes yesterday convincing himself that the garden hose that was laying across the backyard was not a snake and that he could go over it without the fear of dying LOL.

Poor thing looked rather confused!

Hope you all are doing well and good luck to those with eggs hatching!

Wow a lot of new stuff going on. I hope the allergies get under controle for you Zypher and HBH. Prayers are said for your FIL.

Welcome to the Flynns.

Congrats on the new baby on the way RIR.

I am so loving this cooler weather. It is just about perfect if you ask me.

HBH, seriously? The man was close to dying and they were more concerned on what DAY they did the surgery on? If that was my D? who ever.... I'd be asking if today was the day they would schedule surgery to remove my boot from someone's back side!?! Grrrrrrr!

It's all about the money... What ever happend to oaths, ethics, and do no harm... etc...

Hope he pulls through ok.

to the new folks!

Hope you feel better soon Wylie... I had a URI that lasted 6 months before it would go away. Took alot out of me, and I still no longer have the lung capacity or "voice" I used to have. I cannot sing anymore (not that I really ever could) but you know those "alone in the car" moments etc... forget it! I cannot yell as loud as I could (much to my DH's happiness) withought having a coughing fit if I tried today. I suspect it was due to my previous job..... cause once I got away from the enviroment (breathing cement and fiberglass dust) and the terrible stress, I've only gotten a couple head colds I've been able to fight off myself. I was getting this same infection twice a year!

Yes, I know they need to be separated. I am currently planning on using one coop, but putting up a temporary wall to keep the youngins away from the bigger ladies. Right now I am thinking about just having chicken wire inbetween them. Should I use a solid wall? Since they are all eventually going to be in together anyway.

HBH,

I would be furious and sounds to me like a medical malpractice suit! At the very least, I would be filing some major complaints and confronting those Dr's! I will be saying prayers for your DFIL, I hope he makes a full recovery.

This morning doing chores one of Rachel's 1 year old hens was holding her wing funny. Checked this afternoon and still is. Rachel caught her and it appears her wing is broke. Not sure how she did it, trying to get on the roost last night possibly. 1st time this has ever happened. I hope the hen can manage, as it is one of her favorite hens.

I agree!

Thanks for all the prayers!
My FIL is showing some improvement. They are going to try letting him wake up some tomorrow. His kidneys are functioning near normal now and his blood pressure is better too. My MIL has talked to an advocate and I think she will look into "other things" after FIL is out of danger. We are all very upset that this has happened.
