Sarah, good luck with your gang at the fair too.

I remember those days well, DH would take the week off for vacation and by the time fair was done he was ready to go back to work! My boys showed chickens, ducks, rabbits and pigs.

That's just creepy, Opa!

Found a kind soul to take my rooster. He'll be used for his mating abilities....hope he has them! Lots of storms came roaring thru today. Luckily the grandkids got to play in the pool most of the day. It's back to painting tomorrow, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Living room and kitchen left. DH did the 3 bathrooms. Soon my son and his family can move in and life can get back to normal. Is there a normal? Sleep tight, all.

Hard to believe how hard it rained yesterday, but thankfully it didn't do any damage. On the up side I won't need to worry about watering the garden today.

I've got to take Granny to the doctor this morning. She has been complaining about her other hip hurting so we need to get that checked out. Hopefully it's something that can be controlled with medication and not need replacement surgery. Since that hip joint is the same age as the one that had to be replaced I would be surprised if it requires replacement.

This heat sure is causing the chickens to drink a lot of water. I'm glad that each pen has large capacity reservoirs or I'd be filling them constantly. The eight Welsummers are using over two gallons a day. I would have thought with this heat that I might have seen a lessening in egg production but so far they have stayed about the same.

so..... any of you guys ever go to the Manchester Chicken broil? The chicken was pretty tastey this year! The rain came through at dinner time.. but they kept it going. After the rain passed there was a huge, bright, double rainbow!

Glad you found a home for the roo! I would of felt bad having you drive all this way, since I was the lucky one to post after you

I'm driving him to the Lansing area. New owner is from Mason. I'm in Lansing just about every day, anyways, to paint my son's new home. It's almost there. Painting the living room today and all that leaves is the kitchen.

So, Sarah, you missed out on one beautiful roo!

It is hard to believe that no one has posted all day. Maybe they are suffering from heat stroke. Wileyfarms was here this afternoon to pickup some bantam eggs and a pair of bantam orpingtons. She was taking them home, testing for pullorum, and then the girls were going to give them a bath. I did blunt the spurs and the toe nails of the rooster before she took them. Hopefully this pair will do real well for Rachael at the fair.

Good evening all. Busy day today. My youngest went in for surgery. He got his tonsils and adnoids out. He is almost doing to well, I am afraid he is gonna over do it. Next weekend is my step sons graduation party. We are putting it on and boy are we gonna be busy getting everything ready. My FIL is smoking 2 of our turkeys we had butchered. He has some applewood Opa. What else should I do before he smokes them?

Went out to let the chickens out this morning and had a coon in the live trap. We didn't get anything early spring this year and actually stopped using the trap. Yesterday I set the trap up with a marshmallow just for the heck of it, and sure enough.
