That would be SO cool! We're low on cash til next weekend for a road trip anyway so that would be better! Overly-hormonal runner wannabe?? LOL Which one is that?

A friend of mine (Cricket Yang) just msg'd me saying she went to the animal auction and saw cayugas for 50 cents each. I FLIPPED OUT because I couldn't go. Then she told me there were like 6 or 7 and you had to buy them all. I told my bf I would have kept a couple and sold the rest. Let's just say he laughed. He knows me. I'm animal crazy and once I get my hands on one it's kept and spoiled for life!

Guess this means he better get on the ball digging that in-ground duck 'pool'!! lol

I am off to bed. So tired after these busy 4 days and one week in with the P90X exersice program.

Now I know where the title "Mother Hen" comes from!

My bf and I have kinda laughed saying we're getting old because we spend our mornings with coffee sitting next to the chicken run and watching them feed in the morning. At night we pretty much do the same thing. For the last several days we have noticed something we find pretty cute...and helpful too!

I have 3 BR hens, all of which usually don't have much to do with any of the others in the run...except at night. Almost everyone is good when it comes to bed time, but every once in a while we have a few stragglers. Either it's 3-4 that won't go in, or some that go in but come right back out. Every night now one of the BR hens will come out (usually it's the same one) and act like she's a mother snapping at her teenager to go to bed! What's even funnier is how when they see her they run into the hen house and don't come back out! It's like she goes in, takes count, then comes back out to tell off another one. Once everyone is in, she stays in!

No one better tell me chickens are stupid. I have proof they aren't!!

So, to Big Mama, we thank you, you're a huge help!!

Ok! Anyone want a pair of Buff Orphingtons? Nice big hen and rooster...roo was shown in one of my earlier posts and then hen looks just like him. I wanted to get rid of the rooster and keep the hen until my hens started laying but if I have to send her off to be able to send him off so be it.

I'm not asking anything as they were given to me. Very healthy birds, but yes you must take the rooster to get the hen. He's a sweet roo, but is very large and will crush my younger birds if he's allowed in the coop so he's free ranging right now. (doesn't go far from the coop though!)
Also still have the speckled sussex roo's (3) if anyone wants them they are free...just need to make room in my coop. They are about 5 months old. I am not against birds going for meat...so that's fine too.
PM me or you can call me 517-694-9023.

I just tried calling you, but it rang a bunch then I got a funny answering machine type thing that said "Your call goodbye" lol. I'm willing to take the Orphingtons!! I'd love the sussex, but we have 4 roos already. We NEED more females.

My number is 663-8035. My name is Keyt (Kate)

Is it too late for me to incubate some chicken eggs? I just ordered a Hova-bator the other day and I REALLY can't wait until the spring to hatch babies! I want to hatch my Tina's eggs, she's my ONLY blue egg layer and I want more potential blue eggers. Am I just crazy? bc the weather has cooled down about ten degrees.
