Presently without chickens, just have eggs. They will be week old chicks fresh from the incubator if all goes well. I am moving their coop (constructed in a friend's machine shop here in Milwaukee) today to Escanaba, actually. Also setting up a brooder there, so I can brood the chicks here, we drive up, and then all I have to do is turn on the brooder there when I arrive. Kind of a slow move, actually, going bit by bit, mostly staying in Milwaukee (since my lease is not up yet). Once I am up there, I will have 20 acres to myself and my chickens.

I will definitely pursue NPIP. Seems my chickens will need to be older, a few months old, to do the testing. I am saving all the information now and when it comes time, get that done. It seems like a good thing to do.

I keep smacking my hands and telling myself one breed is enough lol Although I am still searching for some nice silkies for bug control in the new rabbit barn.

Jen, IDK how you can just do one breed! My hands get itchy and I love to experiment with different breeds (some speckled sussex chicks do sound pretty good right now). I love the look of the colorful crowd when they come to ambush me for scratch.

That Hamburg is GORGEOUS! My mother would love to get her hands on some of those.

WELL.....

Hello Michigan chicken fans,

I'm new to this forum. I'm in SE part of the state but keeping it low key since fowl are criminals in this city. Anyway, I have 2 BAs and 3 Langshans (I think) plus 5 ducklings.

Just saying hello to ya'll.

Welcome... I must say, I checked out your page and your artwork is amazing. I also think your chickens are stunning. I do love the millie color pattern and that crest is just so different. I really enjoyed your page. Will you be attending chickenstock this June?

I bet they are pretty. I have 4 of them. Two are my old ladies and the other two are from last spring.

Welcome RaZ! I think it is sad that chickens are illegal

It is supposed to get a bit warmer this weekend, well Sunday & Monday. Do y'all think it will be ok to move my 4 week olds out to the coop? Most of them are feathered out pretty well except for the Barred Rocks. I will have a heat lamp secured in the brooder area of the coop. Here is a couple of pics showing the difference in feathering.
