The thunder woke me up. Usually I sleep right through storms but this one was extremely loud. Lightening flashing, thunder rumbling, and then the driven rain arrived bringing marble sized hail with it. For several minutes it was quite intense but now seems to be working its way east. I've drunk one cup of coffee already and I'm debating whether I should have a second cup and go check the position of the turner once again, or whether I should just go back to sleep.

My oldest son used to have quite a few goats but not be able to keep the kids away from his mules often led to tragic results. Finally he decided to just get rid of the goats. When my granddaughter was about six they had a Boer goat that Joe had taught to drive. As long as you could stay upwind it sure was cute to watch Morgan in her goat cart.

I better go have myself another cup of coffee, Sam. I read your post and said, "How on earth did he teach a goat to drive?" and visualized a goat behind the steering wheel of a car.....

Well you start with putting blocks on the pedals................

Opa...hope the "turner" is working ok and that more eggs than you think hatch out!

I had to giggle visualizing the goat driving a car!! Good one! The POWER went off for a bit this morning as the storm rolled thru...incubator bleeped...heat lamp in basement and out in coop went off but just briefly...thank you Lord! The rain will bring up the mushrooms but the weather forecast seems to be predicting rain for the next 5 days so how can we go out and look?! My tulips however...are just starting to open up and I am so happy to see that one of my butterfly bush's not only lived but is leafing out all along the branches. I did NOT cut back any of my butterfly bush's and 3 of them froze back to the base of the plant...but at least they lived. Also...our asparagus is coming up and this is the first year we can actually pick some. Rhubarb flourishing and what really makes me happy is I see tiny baby lupines coming up everywhere!! I bought 3 plants last year and think they are beautiful! Anticipation of a perennial flower bed is always half the fun! This should be a great year with mine and I will post pictures when it is all "up"!

I've never seen a goat drive....but I did notice some of my ewe sheep eyeing my Dodge Ram Pickup....

.....makes me wonder.... It's raining like crazy here and the leaves are just starting to open.....I can't wait to start planting my dahlia tubers....about 2,000 going in the ground this year. I've got 3 Pyncheon Hens sitting on eggs and one of my Silkie hens looks like she's wanting to do the same..... I had 36 lambs born this Spring and hoping to get about 100 chicks hatched this season..... Happy Spring!!!

Just popping in to say Hi. Hope everyone is well.

And, Vicki, if you happen to see this I'm curious if the people who bought my "rouens" are missing any? We don't have a pond, never have had wild ducks show up here before but for about the past week I've noticed a pair of ducks hanging around. I haven't caught them on the ground in the yard yet, but they fly over several times a day and act like they want to land. Just wondering if they aren't wild ducks at all... that'd certainly make more sense.

Chick- I know what you mean. People are funny about roosters. I've had two people express interest, but they sort of freaked me out. My cubas are not game birds, but you never know what people's intentions are. It's that or the roo gets culled around here. He's a pain in the neck- but he will be such a pretty boy next year with that loooong tail he's growing. We sold a lonely rouen duck last year on CL, to a very nice family, and will hopefully also sell a holland lop the same way. I'm crossing my fingers for the right people to call me.

I got them from a lady up in Grant. The last time I talked to her she had some chicks, a Splash hen, and some roos (all silkies) for sale. The hens I got from her are young and not laying yet but like to be held. I am not sure about the Splash and the roos (age-wise).
