Sure was a warm one today.

Does anyone know what happened to spring? That has to be about the shortest spring on record. Hot and muggy all day and now it's raining hard enough to strangle a frog. We certainly could use a couple of days without rain. It doesn't cause me too many problems but I know that if it doesn't let up, many of you will be looking for web footed chickens.

My poor old dog is 16 years old and age is starting to take its toll. She's having trouble negotiating stairs and watching her try to get into my truck is sad to watch. I can't imagine not having a dog but I won't think about another as longt as Daisy is still living. As much as I have loved this dog and she has been an exceptional JTR I doubt if I'll get another. I have seen the dog I would eventually like to get and maybe I can avail myself of the assistance of my BYC friends in finding one when the time comes.

Opa, sorry about you dog. She is pretty old for a dog. We had a large tri colored collie with blue eyes that we got the same day we brought my youngest son home from the hospital. The dog lived for 15 years. I have never come across a dog that will clean up after itself like that. I do have a terrier that will put his clothes away though.

The rain just missed us. We had a bit of a sprinkle and that was all. The mosquitoes are terribly thick out there.

I guess its appropriate that an old man would have an old dog. It doesn't seem like it was that long ago that I carried her in my pocket. She's losing her teeth and often has difficulty walking. Some days she runs around like a puppy but those exuberant episodes are of short duration. I remember playing fetch and tug of war with her and I would wear out before she did. When I put down my other JRT I felt despondent for days and even now thinking about her is a little painful. As long as Daisy is reasonably able to function and in no pain, I let her go as long as I can.

I want a dog like that too, Sam! Got a little rain and some thunder and lightening, but nothing bad. I won't ever get my garden planted if this keeps up. Good night, all.

The worst part of loving a dog is having to let them go. Last December I finally had to say good-bye to my old girl who was 16 as well. I feel that giving a home and love to another dog when you are ready is the best way of remembering them and healing from the grief.

Well we are getting to start another and I must get the lawn mowed no matter what. If it gets much longer I could possible get lost and not be able to find my way back out. I'd better take my cell phone with me just in case.

I have a nice mix of mown grass and smoothed mud in the back.
Front yard looks like an ad for a fertilizer programme.

After docent duty I'll have to mow Mom's grass. Her grandsons have a "lawn service" but they do such a poor job and don't clean up after, she doesn't want them back. I think they planned it that way.
