Oh yea trust me, even when they were here with me they were always chirping up a storm, never quiet! I think they really live up to their namesake, Chanticler: Chanter- to chant or sing, and cler - clear or clearly! Especially when treats are around, they'd start yapping and screaming like they had never been fed

they let you know they are there! The bands on their legs by the way were so I could tell them apart early on. I made sure they were still loose before I sent them your way, but that is why I had them on. Six birds, five different colors and one without a band = perfect way to tell them apart! The one with the Blue band is the boldest of the bunch, while the one without one is kinda the shy one. But as a mob, they are the boldest chickens I've ever known!

I saw you! I think you took a picture of my daughter and her new silkie having a starting contest. I brought 10 bags of DE and sold out before lunch. I guess I should've brought more. That rooster that keyt got from uncle bubba (i think) was AMAZING! I had a blast hanging with my buddy, Theron. Came home with a "chick" from Granny, 2 muscovy ducklings and 2 silkies from Theron, and 2 dozen duck eggs from keyt. I did buy a third duckling from Theron that I sold to a lovely lady wearing a baby. She wanted a pair, Theron only had a boy left and I couldn't stand seeing her walk away with nothing and Theron walking away with a lone duckling. We had so much fun. After settling the newbies in and checking on the oldbies, I crashed hard and just woke up. Do we really have to wait until next year????

I had a great time hanging out with my friend DianaRoss77. It was nice to know at least one person without being their ourself. And THANKS for the help loading the geese and selling your extra duckling.

That's what I'm saying!!

By the way, you're a riot!! And your daughter cracked me up. Make her your saleschild next time. She's sooo cute!!! She almost had me if I was allowed anymore ducks LOL

Yea, diana's daughter is hilarious. She would randomly come up to me and say "thank you for the silkies" with little puppy dog eyes. And I found it funny when she would just keep saying"theron, theron, theron..... thanks for the silkies".

She was the bird watcher and made sure no one snuck off with our birds. Thanks Matilda!

Oh as I'm sure you read, he's not only loved, he's very popular. If I had a dollar for every time his name has been mentioned since we left...

Aric has his plans set for Gandalf's own private run with his own girls. He's such a good boy! I have a pic (uploading them now, it's just a slow process) of him and our little serama roo facing off through the fence. Pretty Boy has been tops around here, even our 2 BLRW roos (who were the biggest I'd ever seen til Gandalf) stood down to Pretty Boy.

I'm gonna try him in with the general population tomorrow, once I remove the BLRW. Right now Gandalf is in with his girl in one of our breeding pens and he seems quite comfy in there. At least there he can see everyone through the fence, he just can't get to anyone yet.

I'm glad it didn't cost much (just the cost of the two JG chicks) to get the chickens Aric has wanted for a year for his birthday. So again, thank you!!!

I'll post a few pics either tonight or tomorrow. Especially the one of him and the serama!

We are already in love with those silkies! I had them separated from the ducklings in the kennel. After I went down to check on them and found them all smashed up against the fence so they could sleep together, I moved the divider. Now the bigger silkie has the little silkie under her chin and a duckling tucked under each side of her butt. Silkies really are maternal. Earlier, I was trying to catch one of the ducklings who was hiding behind a silkie and got a nice little warning peck. Guess I'd better leave "her babies" alone.

all the birds are in their quarantine bins in the garage. they are finally quiet....I finally just shut them in the garage with the light off and everyone settled down. I guess they were were over stimulated by the day. I can't blame them. I can't wait to intergrate them into my current flock. Any advice on how to do that is much appreciated.

the cochins I got are just freakin adorable. I am sure my silkies will be happy to see them once they get older.

"Pat" aka Patrick was rehomed today. I was sad to see him leave but I think he will be super happy on my friends 40 acre farm.

It was a good day.

THERON!!

You're quite cool as well!! Thanks to you too! I love my birds. I mean LOVE my birds. I have to laugh because Aric and i were constantly walking in the barn to look at our birds. I now have all the ones I got from you and a few others in with the 2-3 week olds and they're keeping them company. I have a heat lamp on in one corner but they're all piled up in the other with all the babies underneath them.

I got everything I wanted today. Well, with the exception of the Welsh Harlequins Vicki had. Maybe I could have gotten away with one but I can't complain with what I did get!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE silkies. I have 5 buff and 3 black and now one white. All but 1 of my silkie hens are sitting on eggs. They take care of smaller chicks here all the time. I had mine in with the chicks I had til I got the chicks today. First thing they did was gather some eggs and sit on them. They're so friendly and great with kids...unless they're sitting on eggs then you better be careful!!! They're amazing creatures!!

Had a great time at chickenstock!! I felt like I accomplished something because I sold 30 birds!! I wish we didn't have to take all the geese home.
