I am sitting at work too. I think I may run home to check on the youngins. I have their coop positioned so they wouldn't get hit with much rain but the wind was so crazy....I better just go be sure.

My babies are in the basement still, so they should be okay, now I am just wondering if my husband shut the windows before he left

Rained here last night but it is drying off. By drying off I mean the air is now more moist than the ground. And this is the day my Dad chooses to want to split and stack six face cords of firewood

whew. We're taking a break for a few hours after three hours of work and I am glad. Hot hot hot and HUMID urg. Even the birds are miserable, they are panting in the shade. I've been putting ice in their water every few hours to chill it for them, and am freezing some fruit for them too.

Ok guys I need your help. I came home to check on the girls and the babies are fine. My Brahma was in the corner of the run, drenched, with her eyes closed. It freaked me out. I tried to get her to move and she wouldn't. I went in the run and picked her up. She didn't even budge but to open her eyes. I put her in the garage with some Sobe water (all I have....no power).

Think the storm just freaked her out? Im a little concerned. She let me carry her in one hand. My neighbor thought she was dead.

She is also whimpering a bit.

You are right, by UP standards Manistique is just a stone's throw away, cool! I am guessing the rain storms were too far south to hit you?

I would think she's cold.. I'd get her dry and see if she perks up. It doesn't have to be cold for hypothermia to set in.
