Yeah, I let my dogs out earlier and they were all sitting on the porch waiting for me when I came to call them. The chickens...usually run from the mister. I am watching them right now and they are hovering next to it

....it's too stinkin hot. I am surprised that they gave me eggs today.

went outside and gave food/water to the broody hen only to find the other hen who had been getting food/water earlier had gone and stole her 2 eggs back from the other hen (I had tossed them beside her in hopes she'd pull them under her) and was sitting again lol.

Ok you need to have some type of peace offering to get this woman out of your hair. It's too hot for all her negative effort. I think you mentioned that she wasn't interested in free eggs but is there something else you could do? Nice little note, invite them over for dinner and wine.

I have a neighbor that I KNOW wishes I didn't have chickens but she tolerates us. I think she does becuase I am super nice, she gets free books (i work in publishing), free eggs, her husband and her friends think my coop is super cool (so she brings them over for random viewings...which makes her super interesting

) I tease her often that she is going to come home one day and I'll have a couple of goats.....HAHA. http://www.wpclipart.com/smiley/best_smiley_set/smiley_devil.jpg

Do you have pictures up anywhere of this super cool coop?

Here is my coop pictured from our almost finished deck. Only half the shed currenty holds the girls but I am thinking of opening the whole thing up and quartering it off. It got windy later in the day and blew the tarp off the top that gives our girls some shade. I plan on installing something more permanent. Great learning experience.

The little coop off to the side houses a couple of younger bantam girls to be added into the flock in the next couple of weeks. They get to hang out in the backyard and free range while I do my chores.

How funny is that? That's exactly what I just had the other night! Baby garlic red skinned potatoes with a glass of red wine. It was great. Shoot, some nights when it's too late to cook I just have popcorn and a glass of wine (or a beer or wine cooler). That's one of the nice things about living alone, you don't have to worry about cooking if you don't want to.

never thot of it that way, but I do need to put a curtain or blind on that window. I CLEANED IT THO!!

It has been so hot that the humidity in the bater (no water) was over 65% for a day and 1/2....... I broke down & bought a window a/c unit yesterday. Humidity is back to 40%!!! My little house is 80 degrees and that feels cold when you walk though the door!!!! I've never needed to worry about the heat here but a day or two a year with all the shade trees. Sad that the bater is the reason I got a a/c unit- I just didn't want my little chicks to drown when they tried to hatch!!!!!

On a good note on our house hunt it is now agreed that we will look more for houses I can keep my Tolbunt chicks that hatch out at over houses that I can't have them.

They were going to Mom's- if the right price/ ideal house I can't have roos at still- they still will go to Mom's.

We only have 3 more months before he HAS to be at the hospital in 30 mins or less when on call.

Jenny's silkies are still going to her though..... they are not on my list of chickens I want still!!!
