I went and it was very disappointing. It started at 7, I got there at 7:30 and there were only 3 vendors (someone with rabbits, someone with pheasant chicks and someone selling a tractor) there. I was told that more would likely come later, so I waited until almost 10 and only 1 other vendor showed up. It was the biggest waste of $2 ever.

Isn't that the same one where the girl was stopping a byc member from posting a similar event, in a totally different area of the state, on Craigslist? Wow, bummer, were there many other patrons looking for vendors?

Yes, that swap was put on by the same person who tried to stop our 4-H council from having a swap. Thought we copied her. Evidently word is getting around.

oh and PRESENTS!

So far I haven't figured out how to load pictures. I'm sure my granddaughter would have succeeded the first time. I think that with each social security check you received when you cash it you forfeit 100 brain cells. Maybe this is some big government conspiracy to deal with the baby boomers. Anyway, I initially was going to have 6 hens. Somehow I caught chicken fever and as a result I am building more cages because I'm now up to 40 chickens; welsummers, blue laced red wyandotts, silver laced wyandotts, americaunas, and black australorps.

Ok! Report!

The Williamston Auction was small, but it was enjoyable. Not to mention the animals and hay we going for very cheap prices. 12 rabbits (about half grown) went for 1$ a piece (they were auction in pairs, male and female). A few full grown pekin and mallard ducks were going for $4 a piece. There was also a pair of peacock, the couple went for nintey some dollars. I bid on some guinea chicks, but they went for $4-$5 a piece and I couldn't justify that

There was maybe 30-40 people there, all very nice and talkative.

They also had a hay auction later on, Some bales that had gotten rained on before being baled went for $1/bale, and some of the real nice hay was $2-3/bale. A few really good looking large round bales went for 20-25. I wish I had brought my trailer and picked up a little of that bargain hay.

I also went to the Alma swap this morning. Came home with 4- 2 week old guinea chicks, and 13 Chuckar partridge (3 weeks old) plus a nice cage for a rather cheap amount in my opinion.

I love auctions and swap meets, they are just so much fun!

We went to the Alma/St. Louis swap this morning. It was kind of small, about a dozen people selling, but it was fun! My daughter and another 4-H'er in our club each bought a pair of chocolate call ducklings, my friend bought a pair of buff polish and another friend bought a beautiful pair of Brahmas, wow are they big!! Another 4-H kid really wanted a pot belly pig, but his parents want to wait until after our fair to get more animals, so he was disappointed. However, we got the guys number!! lol

If at first or so the saying goes, I thought I would try this again:(

[/img] I think I got it this time. Let me know

Some of my friends think that it is to nice to use for chickens. but I wanted to look nice and be easy to take care of. I lined the walls and ceiling with white tile board and tile the floor with commercial vinyl tile to make in easier to clean. I got an automatic door opener from Germany that really works nice. How old are your Welsummers and if they are laying how dark are the eggs?

opa's chicken digs are awesome! i know people who would want to live in there!
i gotta get batteries charged for my cam and i'll post soon! aaahhhh, more to do!

my chickens wanna go visit at opa's house!
