Amy Pond did the squat!!!

I thought it would never happen. They are going on 24 weeks and I was afraid I had a bunch of freeloaders on my hands. She even let me pet her, which she never does. She's the most skittish of the flock.

So excited. I'm glad none of my neighbors were around when I started squealing.

I actually got a cute picture through the window of the skunk with his head buried in our melon we had left out on the porch. But I was too scared to rile up what might have been an already startled bear with another flash of light.

She's a RIR, of course. Our coop is TARDIS blue.

BTW, I cried watching "The Girl Who Waited". A really good episode!

It's always so much fun to get the eggs. Never know what I'm going to find. I get double yolkers several times a week from the BRs, the ISAs and the EEs. Sometimes they look so big I swear they are going to be triple yolkers! Today I got the prettiest tan egg with, I kid you not, LAVENDER spatters all over it. No matter how I held it in the light, it was lavender! I took a picture but I only have a cell phone camera and it does not take good closeups so I can't show it to you. Several weeks ago I got blue/green eggs with tan spots and tan eggs with blue/green spots. So cool.

I'm just wondering if any of you have had problems with weasels or mink? I was reading over on the pred list where they were talking about how big a hole they can go through. One guy said if a mouse can go through it, a weasel can too. I have 1x2 hardward cloth enclosing my run and now I'm feeling pretty vunerable. I have never seen one around here but I know there were several mink farms in the area years ago. A friend of my neighbors said his friend traps them and catches them all the time. I'm worried now because I leave my pop door open all night so they can get out bright and early in the morning. My run is so secure I have not worried about coons or fox getting in, but a weasel or mink?
