So sorry to hear your sad story. Maybe someone near will be willing to take them. You could try posting an ad on here? Do you have any friends that would willing to take them? If I could I would but I can't. Maybe hid them in the house/basement when he comes back. Good luck with this and I hope it has a happy ending, for you and your little trio!

My first thought was to hide them- but knowing this guy, and his track record of continually coming back once he has you in his sights, I worry that if he doesnt see them, he will come again to see if I really got rid of them or not..(not to mention them in the house putting up a fuss would surely be loud enough to wake the dead)...

Hey, speaking of patty pan squash, how do you prepare yours? My neighbor gave me one and I have no clue what to do with it!

I slice them thin and saute them in a little butter until a little brown and some of the moisture is cooked out. You can use them the same way as zuchini.

What about RTFA? I mentioned it to my inpector and never seen her again. Seemed like she wasn't in the market for a legal battle and I told her that no one complained about them so there is no problem. I basically said that I know my rights and keep my animals in my yard and they are clean. Even sent her on her way with a dozen fresh eggs:) Are you tight with your neighbors? Maybe you could ask them to support you and put it in writing. I would pull out all the stops to keep my animals, not just because they are pets, but because they are also a food source and I feel it is my right to have them.

Oh yes, the doe hunt. DH didn't go, he had to work. I know for sure my guys will do the youth hunt and every hunt from there on. We live on venison & chicken. Rarely do we buy beef unless we're grilling burgers or steaks cause my kids & I prefer beef burgers and love a nice juicy steak now and then. The venison burgers just don't have that All- American taste no matter how we prepare them. I must say though the venison tender-loins sauteed or grilled are mouth watering and we use the venison burger for everything from soup to nuts!!

P.S. I don't think I've ever heard my guys call a doe a slick head...if so I'm not listening. lol
