Hi everyone- havent been around but I have been thinking of you all.
I just finished draining my pond. Actually, I just finished giving up on my green soupy swamp mess. Then the geese tore a hole in the liner while they were 'helping' me- and the stinkers became obsessed with that hole!
Still nobody who wants my goosers- and no further visit from the city- he had said he would be back on the 30th...however, I did call Calder Dairy- they had dozens and dozens of geese on their farm when my nephew had his birthday party. The lady was very nice, said my city was dumb- lol, and said someone would call me back on Monday.

I still have my turken cockerel...he is turning out to be a very handsome bird. So far no crowing, so he can stick around. I just realized that because I have silkies....and a turken...well, if we can scam him around for just a little while I could have some nice babies to hatch out. it sure would be nice if he could be a rooster and NOT crow...lol. Once he starts, I will move him to my brother-in-laws unless someone wants him.

I have been busy trying to get the yard ready for winter- cleaning out and cleaning up.

I hope everyone is doing well.

I love Calder Dairy. I try to get to the store in Lincoln Park when I get a chance. Wonderful milk and butter.

If the city guy comes back, tell him you don't have chickens, you have ground parrots.

Big Hello to you Puma!! This is a great thread with alot of wonderful people on it!!

So my DH and I are out in the city looking for computer desks when my neighbor calls my cell to ask if we are at home. Why? Because the CHICKENS HAVE ESCAPED!!

lol! I instructed my neighbor to throw some scratch into the coop and around the coop and that should hold them off until we get home to catch the elusive scragglers.

My DH is now securing the door. It blew open from the fierce winds we seem to get.

All are counted and safe. Phew!! I heart my neighbors.

I think, correction....I know I've missed something here. You're done with chickens? Is it by your choice or others? Like Opa stated....You don't have to give up on us! Green-backs like me need all the available advice possible....like 24/7!!

Welcome home Fife- I am glad you had a good trip.
Good luck Mom2.
I spent the day throwing firewood in my basement and stacking it up. Lots of work, but so nice to have down there and dry when it gets really cold. One of the chickens found a dead mouse that I assume my cat killed and she had all the others in hot pursuit. Too funny.
